This is honestly so cool, and I'm convinced that if more people understood the value of this perk, they would be more content/happy with the subscription model. I was impressed by how much the items in my cart dropped in price now that the 5% discount has been enacted. As I was investigating, it dawned on me that the 5% discount is being applied to the pre-sale price, which results in my out-of-pocket expense dropping by more than 5% (actually closer to 10% for the heavily discounted items I currently have in my cart). This means that it actually is more valuable than the 5% cash-back perk at the pro and max levels, because that only applies to the post-sale/discount price. So for those who love to shop sales, this is a really nice subscription incentive.

No, it was not. None of the subscription perks were. However, one exception to this is that they have said that the 5% cash-back perk for pro and max subscribers will be calculated retroactively from the first day of one's pro or max early-access subscription.

If you browse the website now, the 5% discount is very apparent, as it shows up for the vast majority of resources.

If you have Logos Pro or Max, yes, it does mean that. Also, if you are bothered by just missing this perk, you can return your order and repurchase with the discount.

The discount is, as Aaron mentioned, nicer than I expected, since it adds 5% to the existing sale instead of doing 5% off the sale price. On this particular purchase for me the difference is only a few dollars, but it is definitely more generous than the standard way of calculating these kinds of discounts.

I would change the info pane to say "30% Sale + 5% Subscriber Discount" or something similar to make it a little more transparent what is happening.

I took my new discount out for a spin today. I have had the The Preacher’s Outline and Sermon Bible wish-listed but it was simply too expensive until:

Pastor Appreciation 40% discount
October one-time code 15% discount
Logos Max store-wide 5% discount

I also look forward to the Logos Max 5% year-end rebate towards future purchases next year. Yes it felt a little like shopping at Kohl's but I am going to ignore that and go off to do some reading!

I had a couple of Logos 10 packages lined up for purchases. The additional 5% discount seems like a sweetener that made me want to pull the trigger. But unfortunately, I cannot subscribe now. But if I wait to subscribe on 11/21, the Logos 10 libraries will be gone by 11/20 (I was told during a chat session some days back). Is there something that can be done?

Indeed. I'm generally quite happy with the arrangement, but for folks at the sunset of their buying careers, there's not a huge pull here because you have to spend money to save money. I still get pretty excited to see the numbers with the discount, but I'm also pretty impressed with my ironclad resolve in resisting buying stuff I'll likely never have the opportunity to crack open.

However, when the next crop comes up in a few weeks, I'll probably change my tune and be ready for plucking some gems. (Pardon my massively mixed metaphors, but once I started, it was hard to stop. [:)])

those who large libraries need not worry - you didn't pay more. Future libraries will be stuffed with more fluff so that buyers can be offered the new perk of 5% and Logos can still make the same profit as before. (private equity investors didn't buy the firm so as to shovel more money into customer's pockets.) The price you're paying for good resources will, on net, be the same. this kind of perk is meant to capitalize on our brain compartmentalizing what you spend and what you receive as perk differently. it is well known that people spend the money they receive as refund from the taxing authority (IRS in the US) as though it is not their money, when in fact the refund is simply their own money they overpaid the government during the year.

I am by no means an economist. When I tried to explain 'different pockets' to folks at work - using the example of you went to the casino and won - I found it hard slogging to get buy-in on the fact that it is all your money now. People wanted to say it is easier to spend the winnings from their I-just-won pocket than from the other pocket's money they walked in with.

I guess I misunderstood. I've found it difficult to get my head around the difference between what I've subscribed to (paid for) and what's "free" or a "perk" that comes only with a subscription. I find the language confusing. And when Taylor says that we're getting "early access" to the 5% discount, my mind thinks that "early access" is the subscription I've had for a few months already. Not griping, I'm just glad that we're approaching the time when what is and isn't included will become clear in practice. Blessings all.
