The Logos community has been at it for years and that context is invaluable so our plan is to move all of the content from community.logos.com and feedback.logos.com into our new community platform.

The is GREAT GREAT GREAT news! Thank you, Jason!

This is almost as exciting as a new Logos version launch! lol

    Hello Logos Community!

I’m Jason Stone, Senior Community Manager at Logos. We’ve got some major updates rolling out to our forums in the coming weeks, and I’d like to give you a glimpse of what’s ahead.

We’ve been listening closely to your feedback and working behind the scenes to create a more efficient and user-friendly experience. These updates will make it easier for you to connect with fellow users, fully leverage our products, share your suggestions with us, and stay up to date with the latest company news.

    What’s Changing?

Over the next few weeks, you’ll notice a significant transformation in our forums. While the design and capabilities will be enhanced, this is much more than just a facelift—we’re building a more powerful platform to serve you better. Here’s what you can expect:

    • Improved Forums: We’re making it easier for you to engage with other Logos users, share insights on Bible study, product tips, and much more. Whether you’re a pastor, student, or layperson, we want to strengthen the sense of community that makes Logos so special. You can expect new features like user tagging, reaction options for posts, improved mobile usability, and more!
    • A Space for Your Voice: We plan to integrate product feedback (from feedback.logos.com) into the forums! This new platform will make it easier to submit product suggestions and feedback, with the ability to upvote and comment, empowering you to play an active role in shaping the future of Logos.
    • Search and Stay Informed: Whether it’s company announcements or product updates, we’ll make sure you have the latest information right at your fingertips. You’ll be able to search across forum posts, product suggestions, support articles, and release notes, and even subscribe to notifications in different categories.
    • Access to Support Material: Finding help for Logos, Verbum, or Proclaim will be quicker and easier than ever. We’re consolidating support materials so you can find answers in one place, without needing to search across multiple platforms or contact support. And if you do need help, our team will still be here for you.

    Brief Downtime Coming

As we finalize these changes, there will be a short period of downtime. We understand this might cause some inconvenience, but we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. We’ll provide updates both here on the forums and at status.faithlife.com.

If you need assistance during this brief downtime, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team at logos.com/contact. We’ll be ready to assist with any urgent issues.

    Looking Ahead

These updates are all about serving you better. We want to help you connect, learn, and grow with Logos more effectively than ever. Our community is built on a shared love for God’s Word and a passion for deepening our understanding through digital tools. These changes are designed to help you make the most of every product, resource, and feature we offer.

Thank you for being such an important part of this community and for helping us make it even better. I can’t wait for you to experience the improvements ahead. Let’s keep growing, learning, and sharing together!

Stay tuned for more updates—and thank you for your continued support!

    Best regards,

    Jason Stone

    Hello

    I have again important wishes.

    1. A button to search for Case Sensitive

    2. A button to search only whole words.

    3. A AND function. So only post with both: If "Hello" AND "you" are hits. Currently it finds all post like OR, so it finds either "Hello" OR "you" is in. But this doubles the hits instead of filters it to the posts with only both words are in. Best use the same logic as in Logos.

    Thanks

    Jason,

If there is a Beta test of the new forums - I'd like to volunteer.

    +1 on this

We have cleared the beta and testing phases after a number of Logos users and staff tested the new platform. We are now on the homestretch for public release. That said, after launch, I welcome feedback so reach out to me if you have any. Thank you for being willing, both Franks! :)

That will see me away from the forums - a spammers charter and a stalkers free pass.

Thank you for the suggestion, Fabian!

After experimenting with private messages, we have decided that direct messages (DM) or private messages (PM) will remain disabled for our community.

After experimenting with private messages, we have decided that direct messages (DM) or private messages (PM) will remain disabled for our community.

I understand this decision, as it can be difficult to strike the perfect balance, and there will always be those who ruin the experience for others. Nonetheless, I hope there is some sort of option for the formation of group communication, where users could opt in if they so choose. I could think of many benefits. Of course, it depends on what the goal is for the new forums. Logos seems to be highlighting the "community" aspect of the new forums. If this is indeed the goal, it would seem natural to make possible the formation of groups so that certain topics could be discussed within individual groups that may not be quite as appropriate in the general forum (e.g. book/theological discussions).

Is this a technical or philosophical decision?

My point of view is that pretty much every online community that I have been involved with has a private message capacity. This has aided in community building, not detracted from it. To the contrary, I have rarely been spammed, and that says a lot because I am probably signed up on too many forums!  I have never needed it, but some forums have the ability to block anyone you think is stalking, but why not just ignore and delete a message on the off chance it occurs? But again, this has not been my experience of having problems with this function and has only allowd me to connect up with users who would not in the first instance share their email.

It is a philosophical/strategic decision, Donovan. We are happy to reconsider this decision in the future, as faithlife.com has direct messaging available and users do have the ability to opt-out individually, but with so many changes happening at once in the community it may be best to focus on ensuring we do not rattle too many things right out the gate. Then again, I'm all about aiding in community so let's make sure we revisit this in the future!

For me it would be better to have the DM PM.

On the other hand I really don't understand why my Faithlife User Account is seeing for all. Google, etc. This should be visible only for participants.

So both are completely the opposite of what it should be!

BTW do you have seen my other wishes?

but with so many changes happening at once in the community it may be best to focus on ensuring we do not rattle too many things right out the gate.

I must admit, I am surprised that this is a feature that would cause a rattle, other than Logo’s forum software and approach to community has with time become backward on a technical level - even in some cases reflecting generational views of online community.

It has however, been cutting edge in allowing the community to self govern, which is why this surprises me that we won’t have this feature. I just did a bit of a quick glimpse of seven other special interest forums and all have direct messaging capabilities.  Some even allow you to switch it off or you can just ignore it. (which to be honest, I do most of the time, except for forums I have really been interested in. i.e. Accordance Bible Software)

Look, at the end of the day… whatever. I still remember all the fussing when we switched to this forum software from USENET newsgroups and how this rocked the balance of our community . Somehow we managed to adapt to this new trendy web forum software that we now use.  The tools and tech change, but the reactions do not! 😝

Hello, friend! Unless I missed something, I think this is a quick summary of your wishes. I will see what I can address here, but it is important to note that we are approaching launch so what we can or cannot address at this point is a bit limited. At the moment, our focus is preparing everything for launch rather than tweaking features but we will continue the discussion of how to improve the forums after launch so please do not be shy!

    1. Faster site loading times. The forums are designed to be faster loading; we should be good here!
    2. Fixing the “Last” button bug, where it occasionally takes users to the first post. If you see this persist, please be sure to let me know!
    3. A feature to jump to the first unread post when revisiting threads. The new community treats read/unread a bit differently, focusing more on resolved/unresolved or answered/unanswered inquiries. We do anticipate an adjustment in how community members subscribe to or browse "latest posts" or "unanswered queries" but I'm confident we can quickly jump to unresolved matters to get everybody the support that they need.
    4. Private messaging between users. You likely saw this addressed above. At present, we do not plan to release this at relaunch of our community.
    5. Enhanced search capabilities, including user search, case sensitivity, whole-word search, and improved “AND” search functionality. There will be improvements around search, but I will need to confirm if it supports what you are describing. It sounds like you would like it to include what is commonly termed "boolean search". I'll look into this.
    6. Easier navigation for replying to multiple posts within a thread. With the addition of tagging users directly with the @ sign, this might help to target your responses at specific community members while drawing from multiple posts within a thread. Comments in the new environment also support the quote feature, as we're used to using in the current environment. Tagging users and quoting their comments should allow the flexibility that you're looking for.

Please let me know if I've missed anything at all, Fabian. Thank you.

I would argue that you should make whatever changes you want to make now since people are already prepared for change. It's going to be harder to make these intial changes and then push to add more changes later. Some people will be uncomfortable every time new changes are implemented, regardless of what they are. I say it's better to do it all at once if you are planning on doing it down the road anyway.

Thank you so much for this update. I remember 2 years ago around the Logos 10 launch someone said they are considering modernizing the forum. And yet I haven’t seen change and thought they have abandon it due to resource constraints.

Typing this on mobile is not fun, and I’m looking forward for the change.

    Hello Jason,

    Thanks.

To 2. hopefully later. As I read often in the night in the forums.

To 3. Foremost the AND is necessary, or a similar feature to narrow the search. Currently it does the opposite of than with multiple words in it. Or you do the AND as default. So if I want to search for two words I have to run two searches. But if I want to have only what matches the query then I can do it. Or a phrase. Maybe the use of " " could be added.

    6. A self reload function. So no need to reload the site. Especially on the homepage of the forums.

    Thanks

    Hello Friends,

We're just as excited as you are as we get closer to launching the newest version to our online community, but we are going to delay a bit longer. (Not too long, don't worry) We've been working hard, but after seeing so many great questions and ideas, we'd like to open the door to more users and feedback in hopes to make the space even better at launch.

We cannot swing the doors wide open just yet, but we would like more users. Do you want to be considered for an invite? Fill out the following short form and we will be in touch with as many invites as we can accommodate.

As always, thank you for being a part of our community. It would be nothing without you!

    1. Mmmh. I answered, but the post seems to be lost. Once again. This is also a frequent issue. Now I'm not sure if I don't miss one.
    2. Dark Mode
    3. To 5. Yes, Boolean would be great. Whole word. Case-Sensitive.
    4. By answering seeing more than the last post. Nowadays I have often two instances open to see the full thread.
    5. Hide our profile from the internet. Google, Bing etc. don't have to see who's participating.

    Thanks

Next wish:-) The Reader function would be great. So I don't have to move all the time the website on the iPhone to read. Currently it is not funny to read.

    Thanks.

    Hello Fabian!

    1. I'm sorry about that! I hope that doesn't happen in our new space. :)
    2. The new community environment will not support dark mode at launch.
    3. While it support improved search, it does not support boolean search at the moment.
    4. I do hope that navigation and usability improves for you in the new community hub!
    5. Community members can choose whether to make their profile public or private.

    Blessings,

    Jason

    Hello Jason,

    Thanks.

To 2. hopefully later. As I read often in the night in the forums.

To 3. Foremost the AND is necessary, or a similar feature to narrow the search. Currently it does the opposite of than with multiple words in it. Or you do the AND as default. So if I want to search for two words I have to run two searches. But if I want to have only what matches the query then I can do it. Or a phrase. Maybe the use of " " could be added.

    6. A self reload function. So no need to reload the site. Especially on the homepage of the forums.

    Thanks

    Fabian

And again the content is away.

Again: The Reader function isn't working on the forum. Especially on the iPhone I have to move all the time around to read the posts.

    Thanks

    Hello Jason,

    again something.

    1. The AA buttons on the Safari don't work properly. It increase  or decrease the whole forum, like an image, instead of the font alone. Be sure to check this too.

    2. May bigger files to upload. Some Screenshots are bigger since the HDPI or Retina screens. Also some PBB's are to big for the current software.

    Thanks

    Fabian

    3. If I search for a user to see his/her content. Or to search in it. Then please more than 5 pages. I can see my own last posts only for 5 pages. What if I want to see what have posted one year ago? Impossible right now.

An image of my own profile. I have definitely more content than the 5 pages.

    Thanks.

Is that screenshot actually from your own posts? Because when I look at your posts, it has  "Last" next to "5" which takes me to page 37. Also, when I click on page 5, it then allows me to go up to page 7 directly, etc.

Also, I am not sure why we talk now about shortcomings of this forum software, when the new software is coming very soon. (With its own shortcomings, no doubt. Wouldn't it be really bad if there was nothing to complain about! (Just kidding))

Yes, it was. I cannot say why it is different from what you see. And yes this is most of the time what I see. Only sometimes (and I have forgotten it) it shows more.

    Hello Jason,

    I have again 2 improvements.

    1. A preview where we can see how out posts would look like. Some have this. So we can check before sending. But to be honest this has more the forum software which allows BBCode.

    2. A view of all images we uploaded. Some have this too. For example I can remember how the image looked like, to find the post again. This would have been recently nice to give answer to Bradley, but I couldn't find the post per text, but I can remember how the image has looked like.

    Thanks.

There is already a "Preview" button (at the top of the screen), unless you use "Quick Reply".

Thanks. Maybe move this more to the post itself. I saw this in another forum. There is it below. Especially if then more than one post are visible.

    Hello Jason,

    I have again wishes.

    1. Undone works, Means Command+Z on the Mac. But it is not possible now to use Command+Shift+Z.

    2. A forum for reporting bug, etc. Monitored by the developers itself. Currently I have used the Beta Forum for that.

    Thanks

    Hello Jason,

I'm not sure if I have mentioned the following already.

I wanted to search in the

FEEDBACK WANTED: New Resource Toolbar on Desktop

thread. But I don't see a feature to only search in this thread. Means if you have a tree, and you do a search then the search should search only the the tree to the branches. Not the whole forum. Or if you are in the tree, then a feature to search broader.

BTW this is one of my biggest concern in Logos itself. If I search in the Inline search then only the actual resource should be searched, with an option to search broader, this would more focus on the actual resource.

I don't understand as that is how it works.

If you are seeing something different I suggest you start a new thread in the desktop forum where we can try to see what is happening.
