Thanks for having a listening ear. Having an Android app would be the proverbial frosting on the cake!

I am a Windows Mobile user, and would love a Logos app for it. However, i understand that Logos will not create an app for it at least until after version 7 is released. What i want is the ability to read my Logos e-books on my device. Logos created the library.logos.com, but it really does not work well. You can start reading an e-book, but once the browser is closed, you cannot easily get back to where you were. Basically, that is all i am after on my mobile device. I use my desktop to study, and want my mobile to read. Make the library.logos.com work better at creating bookmarks or remembering where i am and i would be happy.
God bless!
JoeKlibrary.logos.com works ok with the Opera 9 browser. PIE in WM 6.5 will only render the site correctly if in landscape mode. They will pick right back up where you left off. But if you read on you're Windows box too and are like me and leave Logos4 open weeks at a time, the two will interfere with each other rather than sync cleanly.

+1 for Android!

Bob,
Any idea when we might hear a direction this is leaning? It's May and I'm up for a renewal on my phone contract. Shall I look for a droid or another blackberry?
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Hi Joe,
I just started using library.logos.com on my droid. I can get to about half the books in my account. However, for reading purposes, I set up a reading plan. Each reading plan shows up on my account home page. You can be reading several books at once using this technique. To switch between books use the web page home button.
I stumbled on to this technique by accident. I was way behind on a book which I expected to be able to finish last month. The plan called for reading about 4 pages a day. When I opened the plan on my Nexus One I found that it was synchronized with my desktop reading. The plan took me directly to my current spot in the book. Since the selections were small I never had to scroll through a lot of pages to get to my current bookmark. Of course, it's easiest to just stop at the end of a plan selection.
I would suggest setting your plan to start in the PAST and choose the reading sizes small so that there are lots of them. This gives you more choices on when to stop and results in less searching if you choose to quit in the middle of a selection. You won't have to pay attention to the dates, your mobile will just give you a list of pages to read for you next selection. Ignore the fact that you're "behind".
It seems to sync back with your desktop in case you want to pick up from there.
Regards,
David

Hi Bob, please consider making an logos mobile app for the android. If you noticed HTC is hammering out so many devices this summer especially with the biggest competition to the Iphone the HTC Evo 4g. These devices are going to be running the android OS as numerous other HTCs will be. This would be a huge market and know this will continue to increase as more and more people leave ATT's iphone. I am getting the HTC Evo 4g and would love to have a logos app for it. Please consider Android which will be the best OS and most used from now and into the future. Thanks.

Eric,
Through the answers that we get from the survey that we have posted here will help us get a
greater picture of what kinds of phones our customers use and the App
that we should focus on next. If you have not yet taken the survey, I'd
recommend doing so as that is the best way to let us at Logos know which
App to develop next.

Have Windows Mobile now, but will be going to Android in the near future. Would like to see an app for that platform. I also made this known on the survey.
Thanks Logos!

My vote for blackberry...

I went to the Verizon store today to look at the HTC Incredible, and I walked out with a Moto Droid for my wife and a HTC Incredible for me (will be shipped in June). I was not planning on doing that, but you know how it goes. [:)] They were running a great deal that if you buy a Droid the Incredible was free, so I jumped on it.
I would love to see Logos running on that phone. I'm sure it would be snappy since it has a 1Gig processor and 512Mb of RAM!!

Hi Bob and Co.
When
do you guys think you will be announcing the next new phone app? With the new iphone hitting the
market and costing just less than a trip to the moon my hope is that you will
announce something soon so us consumers have a wider choice of phone apps.0 -

I would love to see and Android app.

Bob,
Now that the Kindle is available on my droid phone as of this week, it makes me even more likely to purchase certain kinds of books from the Kindle company than from Logos, simply because I can download the book to my sd card and have access to it without the internet. If Logos would just allow us to put some of our books on the sd card instead of waiting for each page turn in library.logos.com, I would much prefer to purchase the books from you. I don't even need a full logos 4 app, just the ability to read books on my droid from my sd card so I don't have to wait for each individual page to load and I can jump to chapters. These include most books besides commentaries, which are too valuable in Bible Study not to have on logos. Still hoping for a droid app for logos4 though. Thanks for all you do in the most excellent Bible Study software on my pc in any event. I am grateful.

I use my Logos Platinum software almost every day and I would love to have an app for my Droid X. As a senior pastor/teacher - and with a fulltime job, I need to study every chance I get without having to open up my laptop. PLEASE, PLEASE make an app for us none iphone customers. [:)]

What is the status since we took the survey? I know that I am leaning toward iPhone, but being a huge man, blackberry is the phone I will have to stay with from what I see on the market at present. I see more blackberry users, almost equal to the iPhone. Would be nice to know something. Thanks.

Android please! I am waiting to get my new phone because I am waiting to see what you guys are going to do. I love Logos 4, but prefer android to iphone and would love an app. Is there any time frame for your decision making process yet??????

I couldn't wait so, I got the Driod X and I'm hoping that it comes soon. For now, I'm using, "Blue Letter Bible" for my,
"On The Go Study." Not everybody is a iphone owner.0 -
I think we're all begging for a breadcrumb from the master's (Bob P.) table here.
Bob. puhleaeeeese can we get a hand tip in which direction (or both?) you're most likely to take?

"On The Go Study." Not everybody is a iphone owner.I am not an iPhone owner either. But, I don't understand this. Presumably, all of those in the forums that are shouting for a native app for their particular platform are Logos customers. Therefore, you have Logos resources available to you online in more than one form, in what is a fairly good interface (yet limited, but no more than the iPhone). Yet some boldly proclaim that they will do their Bible study elsewhere online. Why would you limit yourself and not use library.logos, biblia.com, or bible.logos? The former two, of which, link to most of your resources.
It is as if, in childish defiance for not getting your way, you are thumbing your nose at Logos, at your own expense. I, for one, am grateful that Logos has gone to such effort, without remuneration, to provide the whole community with access to most of our resources online, no matter where we are and what devices we are using. In addition, they continue to demonstrate their dedication to all of their customers and Bible study by exploring such things as topics.logos and books.logos.
Please, a little charity and perspective.

Michael,
I assumed rather that Edward may not have known about library.logos.com which is in fact a great alternative to not having a custom app. It is what I am using online with my current blackberry.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Blessings Thomas,
Unlike Michael, thank you for assuming correctly... with kindness and grace. I'm a "rookie" with all this and I did tried it on my phone, however I only get Bible, no commentaries, dictionaries, interlinear, etc. I have the Platinum version and I have to say… Logos Bible is by far the best out there. I’m not always on my computer… work crazy hours… and try to get as much study time as possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. God Bless!

Edward,
Make sure that when using http://library.logos.comon your cell phone that you are logged in with your Logos ID. There is much more there than Bibles.
Check out the icons running across the top and play around a bit. Of course if you're not logged in you won't see much - but once logged in you'll find your reading plans, bible word studies, passage guides, and a good portion (though not all for licensing reasons) of your library.
It really is a good implementation of a web only access for your library, not matter whether you're using Blackberry, Android, Nokia or whatever.
For a fun desktop experience also check out:

My apologies if I offended you, Edward. Although I quoted you, I was not speaking directly to you, my fault. My comment was directed to those, generally, who have the seeming attitude that I referred to. And, perhaps, I am guilty of exaggeration as well. This conversation about apps seems to breakdown into a passionate struggle between the merits of one platform verses the other with proper perspective left at the door and declarations that the "future" is being ignored (Its like the old Mac verses PC argument but now it is coming from the other side). When, in reality, no app, truly, is needed. (Herein lies my paradox, as I will go down fighting if you try to take the desktop to the cloud also. :-) )
If I came across harsh or out of line, again, my apologies. I welcome you. I, too, am fairly new to this whole system and understand the learning curve of the many opportunities that Logos provides for us to access our resources.

We're still working on re-writing our mobile display engine, which has to happen before we port to a new platform. We're almost there.
BlackBerry and Android are both possibilities, though it's looking like Android is getting more traction in the market right now, and I think it'll get attention from us first, though I can't make any assurances (or offer any dates) yet.

New mobile display engine: Woo hoo! Cause I'm hoping that this gives more options (notes? highlights? visual filters?)
Android will be getting attention for Logos: Woo hoo! Thank you

Thank you Bob. Knowing this gives me something further to consider as I stare at my top two phone options, one from each camp. Samsung Captivate or BB Torch. :-)Bob Pritchett said:BlackBerry and Android are both possibilities, though it's looking like Android is getting more traction in the market right now, and I think it'll get attention from us first, though I can't make any assurances (or offer any dates) yet.
I may have to just sit on my hands till after Christmas for this anyway.

Granted, droid is growing in popularity, but there are many more Blackberry users out there. They are just quieter.... Usually... [:)]

In the process of deciding between an Incredible and a Droid X, so count me as one more person waiting on an Android app. And when you do it, make sure it has prayer requests. [Y]

I have a DroidX and love everything about it save two things: [1] car charger or any replacement does not work and [2] no Logos app. So I am enthused about this business of signing in to access my reading lists — since being able to read from my library on the Droid is all I really want to do anyway. All I had seen to do before was read and search the Bible.
However, it will not log in. It just sits there at the "Sign In" screen.

Looking at the interesting market share article: http://blogs.computerworld.com/16883/android_apple_market_share It looks like Android will probably surpass iPhone in ~6 months. What's most interesting is the slope of the change in the market share.

I presently have the logos app on my iPod Touch and use it often "when I have a wifi connection". This greatly limits me as to where I can use my Library on logos. so I use other Bible apps on my Droid 2 android phone. I know this system would carrie this program very well. I am betting better than the iPod Touch. I would really appreciate being able to access my library and study with my logos system on the go with this new android phone. I would be on it ever spare Minuit I could. Also I would hate to think that someone would have to go to att and iPhone just to get this awesome bible study app on their phone.
Hoping, Praying for an android Logos app.... PLEEAASSEE!
Thanks and God Bless,
Dennis

Just got my HTC EVO which now ships with Froyo (Android 2.2). The larger screen and sharp resolution makes it ideal for using Logos. Not to take a thing away from iPhone or Blackberry (or WinMo, for that matter), but Android 2.2 is really a wonderful phone OS. I am reading books from Kindle on my EVO and I look forward to a solid app for Logos.
It really is amazing how far we have come with mobile computing devices! Phones, pads, netbooks, etc, etc. And while I will love having an Android specific application (for all the reasons that the rest of the community have already mentions: reading books, prayer lists, book lists, devotions, study, etc), I think it will be someime before I give up the large monitors of a desktop and the potential to have dual monitors, etc. Logos is phenomenal in that format!
