Does anyone know why a phone call is required for certain resource discount offers to be redeemed.

I am not in the USA and would prefer not to be making international calls if unnecessary. I would have thought that as I am logged in to my account with my credit card details in it that a phone call would be unnecessary.

Perhaps there is some reason that I am unaware of.

If it is the cost of the international call that is the problem then the solution might be Skype? I use it when calling customer support from the UK. It is nice that the seem to stay open well into the evening just to take my calls. ;-)

It just seems a bit archaic that I might have to make a phone call, and I wondered what the reason was.
