Suggestion: I like to have an audio "preview" with some snippets of the audiobook. For the traditional books you have the "see insight" button. It would be great to have this for audiobooks. Thanks
Totally agree.
It takes genuine talent and hard work to read well for an audiobook recording. Listen, for example, to Juliet Stevenson reading Austen or Gaskell, or, Simon Vance read The Pilgrim's Progress, or, Timothy West reading Trollope, ... just to name a very few of the most outstanding readers. In contrast, however, there are tons of readers who are, quite frankly, hacks. Pace, intonation, different voices for different characters, volume, emotion, etc., all matter.
Here is Juliet S. discussing how she approaches reading: (https://www.audible.com/pd/Juliet-Stevenson-Audiobook/B01N1EPJ4U?qid=1730479466&sr=1-36&ref_pageloadid=NE4PsRvk7Uvv8Cib&pf_rd_p=83218cca-c308-412f-bfcf-90198b687a2f&pf_rd_r=FHYAYSBY5ZKGN27X7EBG&pageLoadId=LnjmMx8rbMj5KHjz&creativeId=0d6f6720-f41c-457e-a42b-8c8dceb62f2c&ref=a_search_c3_lProduct_1_36 ) [Amazon login req'd - sorry - but otherwise free to listen to]
Why would I bother to shell out $$ for an audiobook that I cannot sample first?
in the past if it was
That is a much needed feature. I have gone to Amazon in the past to check previews if they were available.
I also went to Amazon 😉
This is a great idea.
