Logos 10 desktop toolbar change caused problems

I recently purchased Logos 10, and after completing the QuickStart course, I finally felt comfortable navigating it. However, my app updated right after I subscribed, completely overhauling the interface and rendering everything I learned almost useless.

Previously, my toolbar had familiar icons, and I had learned key workflows. Now, the menu is drastically different, and even simple adjustments like changing text size are hard to find. Pressing "Tab" no longer highlights the passage reference as expected; instead, it cycles through every element in the pane, making navigation tedious and unintuitive.

I reached out to support, hoping for a refund since I paid for a subscription that unexpectedly complicated the software for me. Unfortunately, I was told that subscriptions are non-refundable.

So, I’m left having invested both time and money, only to find that my expensive, already challenging software has become even harder to use—with no way to revert to the previous UI.

Does anyone know how to highlight the passage reference or perform similar tasks covered in the QuickStart course, given the new layout? I’d appreciate any guidance, as I’m struggling to find familiar functions in this updated UI.

This may be of some help: Where do I find . . . on the dynamic toolbar? – Verbum Support (there is a similar Logos version but either will help you).

I have never used tab as you describe so someone else will have to cover that.

Pressing "Tab" no longer highlights the passage reference as expected

Tab will select the passage reference as long as that is the last thing that was selected by it. If Tab does not select the passage reference, keep pressing it until the passage reference is selected. Then, next time you press tab after leaving the passage reference it will jump back to its last used location (now passage reference).

Did you happen to give the "Free Trial" a run before paying for the Subscription? If not, and if you're within the Trial window - I'd ask if they could give you a customer courtesy considering the case....

I do feel for you having made the investment and are now stuck with the inefficient Dynamic Toolbar.... Many of us have pleaded with Logos (thus far unsuccessfully), to give an option between the Dynamic and Classic Toolbars - with no "real" input or reasoning as to why not from Logos - just that it's not planned...

They seem to believe that forcing customers to relearn the use of the software is what's best for business, somehow inefficient is an improvement in their eyes with the Toolbar decision they have made so far....

I hope they can work with you on this - if not, you can just warn everyone about your experience. A work around may be to download a version prior to the release of the toolbar and see if that will allow you to at least have a version that works for you personally.

Edit - here's the link to Version 36.1 - https://downloads.logoscdn.com/LBS10/Installer/36.1.0.0006/Logos-x64.msi - that was the last version based on Release Notes before the Dynamic Toolbar was added to the Stable Branch. Hopefully that means you could stick with the Classic Toolbar, but maybe Bradley could shed light on whether or not due to you being a subscriber it will still be active, even in that version. Also be forewarned that you may be required to do a fresh install, as some resources get updated and will not work on previous versions at times...

I might prefer the behavior of only selecting the passage reference, especially since the location of Tab is not remembered, one must start from the beginning of the list every time Logos restarts. I wonder if this was a possible oversight/bug or if Tab is functioning as intended.

I can verify that using 'Tab' on the Classic Setup brings you to the Reference box of the 'active' tab in my layout. Now if I continue to hit 'Tab', I can cycle through the options.

It appears that the Tab key functioned as it did on the classic toolbar only by chance. The hotkey for jumping to the reference box is Ctrl+g. Tab moves from left to right, and the back and change book buttons are now to the left of the reference box.

I was told this was a bug in the new release. So tab is meant to have the same functionality as Ctrl+G and will hopefully be fixed

Cmd-g will highlight the passage reference every time. Pressing Tab will do the trick for the first click after the pane becomes active; after that Cmd-g works every time.

Control-g on that other OS [:P]

During the Beat, we were told that the former function could not be restored. The information that the present action is a bug is likely incorrect.
