Highlighting across page break?

I am using an iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18.1.
Should it be possible to highlight text across a page break, and if so, how?

I don't think you can, I think you have to change it from paged view to scrolling view.

I think this is correct, but...
You can two finger scroll when in page view and it will move up line by line. For users who prefer paged view, this may be a good solution as long as the passage isn't more than one screen.
