Zondervan Video Courses - Why?

I have always wondered what the draw is to having the Zondervan video courses on the Logos platform. Unlike mobile Ed courses, they don’t include transcripts, and they are all free on Hoopla if you have a library card. What’s the advantage to paying for them to have them in Logos?

Does anyone have any insights into this? What am I missing?

One reason might be that Logos has a significantly large international audience who don’t have access to US library services. So they would be more willing to pay for these video courses.

At the current price you can own them and stream them on Faithlife TV. You have a library card alright, but if the publisher decides to retire them from free streaming that’s it, no more free streaming.

To me, the audio lectures are better. Same content and got the ones I wanted from christian audio. I think they went out of business but the app still gets updated. Maybe audible bought them, can’t say for sure.

At full price? No thx. At 90+% off? Sure, why not.

Why buy/rent a book or movie when you could get it from the library for free? Convenience and availability.

Hoopla is not free. Participating Libraries pay a lot of money to provide it to their patrons.

and I have friends who do not live near a big enough or rich enough library to afford hoopla.

Thanks to Hoopla I have been able to listen to a good many NT Wright audiobooks 😎

Good points, thanks everyone. For now I will just stick with Hoopla, as I am blessed to have a library district that is included in it.

You are correct the missing transcript is a negative but the production of Zondervan courses are much better in my opinion. I have many MobileEd and Zondervan courses. The Zondervan courses are much nicer to look at and are great for a group session. In my experience, the MobileEd with sterile white background and lack of graphics really hurts it. Even when a picture or graph is shown, you can hardly find them in the notes. With Zondervan, I can usually find it in the accompanying book.
