Question re: abuse(?) of license

Given that there are now significant interface differences, helping my daughter-in-law navigate Logos has become much more difficult. Would it be an abuse of my license to allow her to sign into my account (or me into hers depending on the situation) so that we can meaningfully communicate? There's only 2674 miles between us, one is a professional - the other not.

I don’t think doing either, for the purposes of training, would classify as abuse. Abuse would be if she had access to your account on an ongoing basis, instead of paying for her own.

Yes, this would absolutely be a violation of our Terms of Service.

Try one of the many free screen-sharing video conferencing apps or websites to help her with a program that looks different to yours.

If you have an extra computer you can downgrade your Logos to 36.1 on one of them. Then you will have the same as her. It is silly that Logos refuses to provide subscribers with an option to use either interface.

I happen to disagree, but I had a simple, quick solution - purchase a subscription for her as a welcome to her new church. But I thought the question was worth asking as a hypothetical for the benefit of the forums ... (okay, I had a single person in mind).

Yep! Anything that requires letting someone log into your account using your credentials is risky even if it’s family.

This does beg the question: a while back Bob said that allowing your spouse to log in to your Logos wasn't exactly frowned upon as it is in the spirit of the TOS, if not by letter. Is this still the case under new leadership? Has this changed now due to accessiblity of memberships?

Doesn't really apply to me, more just curiosity than anything.

I imagine it would be near impossible for Logos to prevent family members within the same household from using the same account. This is permitted in every subscription example I can currently think of. Abuse becomes obvious when someone moves out of the home due to differences in permanent location. But perhaps clarifying language would be helpful. One solution to this "problem," if a company sees it as such, would be to limit the number of devices on which the software could be installed. But even that would not prevent a husband and wife from sharing; it would simply force them to be more selective.

Not sure why you would disagree. It has always been accepted for an entry-level or trial version of software to have reduced features than a paid version or higher-level one. But the idea was so that new or trial users could try out the software.

By changing the basic interface for subscribers, it is no longer the same software. New users who download the free or entry-level software and learn to use it will have to re-learn it if they subscribe. And unless Logos is going to refuse support to non-subscribers, they are now obligated to maintain two different versions of help and support, one for subscribers and one for non-subscribers. In another recent thread, a teacher could not teach his class because some students had different interfaces.

In addition, Logos is being inconsistent between platforms. On the web app non-subscribers get the new interface. The web app is clearly trying to simulate the look and feel of the desktop app. Yet a non-subscriber now has a different interface on the web app than on their desktop software.

No thank you! I think subscribers should keep it ... rationalizing up a storm, while turning in their monthly fee for its use.

'My position' is they could have done a much better job, just copying examples on common daily devices ... ease of learning, ease of use (and a lot like the right-click menu ... shhhhhh).
