Read Aloud has disappeared from books I was in the middle of using

Read aloud had worked on all my hooks. Just last week it has disappeared on every book I've used it on.

I'm using the Samsung tablet I've always used.

Ah yes. That did expire. Interesting that is a subscription feature.

I'm sorry, Thomas, for your travail.  But your example seems the future ... disappearing features .... the subscription.  People will be mystified.

There are ways around it, but it is much simpler the way you had done it before with the subscription

Read aloud does not require the cloud or AI, it uses your system narrator and thus should not be a subscription feature. If Logos requires a subscription for Read aloud they're just being greedy at this point.

Kiyah Subscriptions are not about cloud or AI, they are about features.  This is just one of many features that require a subscription if you had not previously purchased the Logos 10 FFS.  You are free to disagree with Logos choices, you also owe Logos an apology for your slur upon them as this is not an appropriate way to disagree with them.

It's not a feature. It's part of the interface, and it's been a part of the free version for years. It's not a new feature they just developed. I consider it an accessibility issue. So now you're going to make people subscribe for the privilege of not straining their eyes reading from a screen for long periods of time?

Logos explicitly said they were moving to subscription to support their cloud and AI costs, but they're making people subscribe for pieces of the interface. I can see if it was a dataset that they have to maintain or some other bible study tool. They've always made a distinction be the software engine (which is free) and features that you have to pay for. What's next, are you going to have to subscribe to be able to use the print function soon? Is printing a feature that people will have to pay for?

I did not use a slur of any kind, so I don't know what you're talking about there. I'm allowed to give my opinion on how Logos is choosing to operate its business. That's part of what the forums are for, to discuss Logos' products and services. There have been entire threads with people voicing their opinion on how Logos is handling the subscription model. My comment was nothing different.

    Be blessed.

It has always been and is still free on Windows. But this is the Mobile forum. On Android it was not available until Logos 10 and it was one of the things included in the higher Logos 10 feature sets (I think on IOS previously there was a way included in the OS to have Logos books read aloud, but in Logos 10 it was improved to deal with verse numbers etc.). Of course Logos does depend on the OS built in functions, but that is true for a lot of things. They still had to spend x amount of programming, testing, etc. hours to implement it.

I only bought Logos 10 Starter and a subscription is not feasible for me. Would it be nice to have the Read aloud feature on my phone? Sure!       Do I have any entitlement for Logos giving that to me for free? Of course not!

I didn't realize this was the mobile forum. You are right. My mistake.

But if this were the desktop forum my point would be valid, and people shouldn't be accusing folks of using slurs for just voicing an opinion on how Logos is handling the subscription model. (I know that was someone else and not you). It's not entitlement, I was going by what Logos has said about the engine being free and their promise of us never having to pay to access our books. Read aloud is one way many people need to access their books if they have vision limitations or are neuro-atypical in some way. Let's hope Logos continues to include Read aloud for free in the desktop version.

If this were the desktop forum and due diligence had been done then the matter would not arise. The read aloud feature is available from Accessibility settings.

Well, if the Help text is any clue (desktop), read-aloud is in there with a 'tab' described in the resource menu. Stupid me, I just assumed there'd be one. I can see this going downhill for the claimed newbies who aren't needful of a subscription.

FWIW, Read Aloud is working fine on Android for me. I am not a Subscriber, but do own the L10 FFS
