Fun with Logos Verbum on

Playing with the new Logos I discovered that SET VERBUM TO NO and SET VERBUM TO YES still exist and they do something. Not sure what they do yet but the minimally function. Since we can't subscribe to both Logos and Verbum I am playing with this tool again.

So far so good on the forum with tags.

Interesting, it disappeared for a bit there. Was this changed in the most recent update?

That's pretty great! What do these commands do, I wonder?

Yes, we didn't lose the ability to run both pieces of software what we lost was the ability to run all the features of both. So, for example, if you own the Verbum feature set, switching to Logos will not give you Igniter Media or SermonAudio.com as it did in the past. I haven't actually try it but that is what in theory happens. For Tips of the Day, I've counted on being able to switch back and forth to answer questions. I've not had to pay attention to the details of when I have to switch vs. when I assume it is better to switch.

@MJ. Smith , if I recall correctly wasn’t there a feature where you could essentially make Logos consider the deuterocanon in certain features as well as enable saints of the day?

Im considering switching over to Verbum for a few reasons but I still have Verbum 9 installed for when I’m feeling nostalgic and I can’t rip that bandaid off quite yet.

It’s looking like it’s just time to do it though, unless some of the things I’m wanting to do can be done in Logos again.

I honestly don't know … I was so used to switching between them, that I never really tested what I could get Logos to do as Verbum is my usual base.

MJ i am not sure, in Verbum proper how to use the Ignite or sermon resources. The help shows it should just show in the passage guide.

Any tips? Also are you tips archived somewhere?

TIPS OF THE DAY from L10 on are indexed/linked here.

Ignite isn't be available for use in Verbum - I just checked. It appears my memory was wrong on Logos Sermons. It is available. It sounds as it Help needs editing. I check this stuff out later today.

    @MJ. Smith, @Dave Gifford

all this said, if I don't use Igniter Media, is there any disadvantage to switching to Verbum?

I don't particularly have the diskspace to have both installed alongside each other, but the benefit of being able to search by Church Documents, Church Fathers, and Catechism would be of more greater to me than having Ignite and/or the Logos specific homescreen.

From what I see, making the jump from Logos to Verbum would change: my homescreen to the Verbum specific one, add the ability to search using the Church Docs and Catechism collections, add saints of the day option to homescreen, make a few minor tweaks in feature names (sermon to homily), and change an icon or two?

Are there any changes to any guides, workflows, etc. that might affect me?

Am I missing any benefits or drawbacks that may come with making the change? I'd like to know before updating my Verbum 9 install. There's still a few things I like to use version 9 for, but nothing of major concern and I'd really like to be able to search my entire library with the Verbum specific collections, but I don't want to regret losing V9.

Unless you use the third-party sermon media/helper guide sections, there is no downside to switching to Verbum. I think you've analyzed the differences correctly.

I did decide to update, this would be a good time for me to trim down some of downloaded media anyhow. I'll keep them both for a short while and probably end up just using Verbum. I've been meaning to do it a while, but it was hard to pull off the V9 nostalgia band-aid.
