Turn Off Community Tags

As calmly as possible, without detailing the frustration I have every time I turn on Logos:

How do I turn off the community tags or "5 people highlighted this" ? I really don't care how may people highlighted something. What a nuisance

Thanks to anyone that will have mercy on me and explain the steps of turning this off.

Hi James - and welcome to the forums

Thanks to anyone that will have mercy on me and explain the steps of turning this off.

You can do this in the Visual Filter menu - resource section - as shown below:

Ensure you select the "Do not show in any resources" option

    Thank you.

FWIW, when I get too frustrated with Logos on my Windows 10 computer, I fire up my old computer that still has Libronix on it. Wow, what a difference! I actually get more work done having less options!  Even though it has significantly less available resources, the program is soooooooo much easier to use.

    Thanks again for helping me.

  • Logos & Verbum Program Settings also have a couple Community items:

Program Setting for Use Internet can be changed from Yes to No (for less options that do not need network response)

Thank you. I have been going in circles on this website for over an hour. Extremely frustrating. Finally got my answer from what you posted here.

the program is soooooooo much easier to use.

Whereas, I never got comfortable with it ...despite having it for its entire lifetime ... there were a few elements I liked - like making my own timelines, and being able to link shared PBB's because of predictable addresses but most of it left me feeling like a bumbling idiot caught in a computer science experimental lab.

I did exactly what you said to do and it changed nothing. The community tags are still there telling me how many people highlighted that passage. I even rebooted the program and . . . . still there. I am running Logos Bible Software 9.16. (9.16.0.0006). Is it possible that something has changed? I even double checked my work, carefully mimicking all the check boxes as you have them, and the underline & little highlighter with the # of people who highlighted each of the verses is still there. I find them so distracting.

Thanks for any further assistance you or anyone else can offer -

Unfortunately, you got instructions for community tags when you wanted instructions for popular highlights. This should work.

Brilliant - thanks so much MJ! That did the trick! It is odd that Graham's answer was the one that came up when I searched for the solution, as the person who posed the original question (James) was after the same answer I was.

Very grateful for your help with this!

I received a notification of your issue in my e-mail, I haven't visited these forums in quite some time. Venting: Logos runs so slow on my new computer and has so many unnecessary features that I don't use, I only use Logos when I have no other options!

I actually have my old 20-year-old computer set up with the pre-Logos Libronix running. That program is easy to use and takes me seconds to find what I need. sometimes "more" is not better!

Sometimes less is more. I would much rather have the things I want and use remain stable and easy rather than having all sorts of unnecessary new bells and whistles introduced all the time.

all sorts of unnecessary new bells and whistles introduced all the time.

Just saying, there would be no software if it did not meet the needs of a large enough user base to support it. What is unnecessary to one user is absolutely essential to another user; the new bells and whistles are based on the expressed needs of other users.  You need them to be satisfied in order for the software to exist at all.

How are community underlines removed in Logos 37.2.12 - Nov 2024?

    Thank you.

Community tags are turned off in Program Settings.

The light blue dotted underlining for Factbook including Community Factbook tag are controlled from the dynamic resource toolbar Formatting > Factbook >toggle

Popular highlights are also from the dynamic resource toolbar Formatting > Visual Filters > Popular highlights

Thank you (for your time) - that took a lot of time to explain, and a little time to follow.

What you refer to as Program Settings - in Logos Mac are called Preferences...

While this was fairly complex (for some of us) I am happy that the program is so powerful and improved that some thiings simply take patience to understand - along with UNlearn and RElearn.

AND I am thankful for the forums and those who help us ! !! Thanks again ! 😊

    Shalom

I'm new-ish to the Mac, but I notice where the Logos menu uses 'Preferences', Safari and all my other Mac apps, use 'Settings'. I assume 'Preferences' was an older nomenclature?
