What Could Possibly Afflict Logos.com?

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see a Logos.com tag for this 'discussion'.

After the great news, the Hebrew Encyclopedia was 'almost' ready, I had to make sure another Accordance resource (Talmud Biblical Indexing) wasn't possibly available in some form on Logos.com

So, I searched 'Talmud index' (not in quotes) on Logos.com. I got only 3 resources back, none having Talmud or index in the title. Two were indirectly Talmud but the 3rd who knows.

Apparently you have to literally tell it 'or' or maybe a comma … not 'and' or who knows. It doesn't know to first look for 'and' (the typed syntax) before looking for a possible 'or'.

I just don't get it what they're doing. Anyway I got my Accordance volume and I'm happy (as I am with the coming Logos Hebrew resource!).

And … BTW … going back to Accordance, I typed in a quick phrase … found the book, quick.

    Nobody cares about Accordance. This is a Logos forum.

    The search in Logos became horrible. I complained months ago about it, specifically the change on author search, and they said they were going to fix it ASAP 'because it was a mistake'. So far, nothing. Really bad.

    I dunno. Ive been reading some of your posts on the forums, and it seems all you do is complain about Logos.

    Well, $50k puts money down where it counts. And yes, I've been quite chatty this year. You should too … it's not going to be a good situation for future customers.

    @David Jonescue It's a tough job but someone has to do it. Stick around a year or two and you will fully understand.

    Ive been using Logos for about 5 years, and have spent close to $9,000, so not exactly a noob. I just dont see all the fuss. It seems like some people all they do is complain. Its kind of weird. I would hate to be a Logos rep and look at the forums and see what appears to be so many adults whining like toddlers all the time.

    So customers who share their "requested by Logos" feedback and opinions whine like toddlers…. By your philosophy does that mean that those who never see negative in the decisions well trained bondservants?

    BTW - 5 years is actually still quite "Noob" in Logosian years - as you missed the "Golden Era" of Customer Service and a desire to appeal to the broadest customer base possible - not just new/potential customers….

    A lot of the negative is due to the fact that there are a number of us long time customers (think decades) that feel left out by Logos because of decisions being made….

    Letting a business know your opinions on the product they offer is NOT whining like a toddler - insulting labels like that would violate Forum Guidelines - but they are never enforced when labels are directed towards those who disagree with Logos decisions.

    Ok, but the "blinders" talk is also not helpful. People just need to tone down the rhetoric. It's ok to have differing opinions.

    Also, forum guidelines seem to be enforced very loosely on both sides of the fence.

    Frank, this is not directed at you as I know we view such things differently, but to me "whining" implies going on and on about something not merely stating your opinion or grievances. And, yes, Logos does moderate with a light hand - something some forumites appreciate, others see as unfair. Jason's title implies he has more responsibility for the tenor of the forums. Let him know your position on moderation.

    I can agree with you for the most part and understand your view of "whining"… Yes we would differ on our view there, but that is the nature of humanity. I'm also not a fan of a tightly moderated/censured Forums, but understand the need at times to do so. My frustration with it, is when it is clearly not evenly applied.

    If you are looking for me to make a "courtroom defense" of it, no and I wouldn't waste the time to search through the thousands of posts to do so.

    Do I have personal experience based on nothing being said or done with users being inferred as being Satanic, but it being stated that I should be banned (IIRC) because I stated it was ignorant to continue to misrepresent users when they have stated their positions multiple times - yes.

    (I reported the Satanic comment to Logos directly and nothing was done to remove it - maybe it didn't make it over in the transfer LOL)

    Out of curiosity though @Aaron Hamilton - you ask me to provide concrete examples, have you asked those making comments about "whining toddlers" and the like for concrete examples of what they are forming a basis for those labels of fellow forumites?

    You seem to be reading a whole lot into what I said. I asked if you could provide an example of moderation being unevenly applied. With that, I meant a personal example. I asked this because I couldn't think of a single example of moderation being enforced at all for any reason on these forums, and I thought since you have been around longer you could fill me in on an experience so I could better understand what you were talking about.

    I don't understand your follow up question. No, I have asked nothing of the sort because I find the question to be odd and have no interest either asking it or listening for the answer. I asked you because I was genuinely interested in the answer, and for no other reason.

    Sorry @Aaron Hamilton - I could have responded better, especially with it being you…. I'm a little "cranky" due to a conversation pertaining to Logos that I have been having and am not happy with the fact that it is sounding like the Dynamic Toolbar is going to be forced onto all of us at some point. (Yes, I understand the reasoning of the cost of maintaining both - but I hate the fact that my use of the software may be ruined unless they improve the efficiency and footprint issues that arise with my favorite Layouts)

    I understand. I hope and expect that the dynamic toolbar will be dramatically improved. Hopefully, by the time they force it on all users it'll be truly ready to go. I'll be happy to continue beta testing it for you in the meantime. (Please understand the light-hearted nature of this post in case any part of it might be taken with offense. I'm still recovering from you bringing the hammer down on me in response to my last question.)

    Not at all taken with offense and I actually do follow your input on the Dynamic Toolbar - just a little touchy right now due to the conversation. Getting the undesired toolbar forced on me rather than say the Android Sermon Manager Parity, of which I already own the Feature for all the other platforms is annoying.

    Though I was reminded of one other time that users were charged for an OS version (way back with the Mac engine crossgrade for around $60) - though the incomplete Mac engine didn't require subscriptions or additional cost for Features being added for Parity going forward… It would be nice to just pay for the Android Sermon parity and not be forced into a full $200 subscription to own it… (I really don't desire anything else at this time in the LFL and don't care about the AI stuff, plus as stated one of the "features" is likely to be forced on us non-subscribers anyway LOL)

    So again, I apologize for "bringing the hammer down" - just really frustrated with this whole "new era" (except for the Forums - @Jason Stone (Logos) and team are improving it consistently.)
