What does "You've used 1% of your monthly AI credits" even mean...?

I have no idea what this means - Logos pays for the AI they use, so we only get "some" use? Just curious… can someone elucidate for this non-computer-scientist (which is not to suggest that I'm not a geek - I got my first computer in 1984!! A Sinclair ZX-81 with 16K RAM pack) 😋

What I'm envisioning is that I've got a some "bottle of AI" with my name on it (that looks like an old English glass bottle of milk), somewhere on the logos servers, and it shows 1% gone… most probably that delicious cream at the top! 😉

That's about right.

When we use AI-enabled services, such as Smart Search or Summarisation, Logos makes use of third-party services for which they need to pay. And the cost for this (along with other things) is covered in our subscriptions. So there is an allowance given to each of us, each month, with different levels at different subscription tiers (I believe).

The allowance is designed so that most of us will not get anywhere near it in a month and so we shouldn't have to worry about it.

But there was a request to make the usage information available so people could get a sense of how much they were using and whether they were likely to exceed their monthly allowance and adjust usage accordingly.

Another advantage is that, since credits do not carry over, I can anticipate the top-up date and aim to use any remaining credits for research work. This awareness prompts me to utilise my current balance before losing it and allows me to consider using next month's credits effectively. It's all about matching my pace to work with the resources available. 🎯

It was indeed, and in my personal opinion, one of the most beautiful love songs ever written, both for its lyrics and melody. Jim Croce was a talented man who died far too young. Beautiful guitar as well. Never mind most of this modern "I love you like a love song, baby" nonsense. #Crotchety ☺️
