Search Function Not Working in Verbum Desktop App

I am a new Verbum Pro subscriber encountering an issue with the Personal Study feature in the desktop application. Here's my specific problem:

  1. When I go to the Dashboard and select "Personal Study" under "What would you like to do today?"
  2. I try to search for a topic (for example, "John the Baptist")
  3. While typing, I see automatic search suggestions appear
  4. When I select one of these suggestions, instead of performing the search:
    • The search bar reverts to just showing the first word I typed
    • No search results are displayed
    • I've noticed this only happens in the desktop application. When I use the web version of Verbum, the search function works correctly.

Is this a known issue? Are other users experiencing the same problem?

Can anyone please help me figure out what I am missing?

Note: I haven't purchased any library packages yet, though I'm not sure if this is relevant to the search functionality issue.

I can confirm the same behavior in Logos (Max subscription with a large library including 2025 libraries, so the reason for what you see is not a Logos/Verbum functionality glitch, not the limit of a subscription tier, not the size of the library). It seems the dashboard application is simply broken with respect to topical studies as opposed to biblical studies which work, at least for me.

Thank you for your response, NB. Mick.

It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. Do you know the best way to report this bug to Logos/Verbum technical support team? I think it would be helpful if they could investigate and fix this search functionality problem in the desktop application.

I put the tag "Bug" onto this thread, this hopefully will alert the Logos people here in the forum, such as @Jason Stone (Logos) . The second thing I just did: mentioned Jason directly, so he will see this in his notifications and probably come over and look into the bug report and then raise a ticket with the technical support people not in the forums.

I don't think it's a search functionality issue - since invoking the same feature with a bible reference opens a bible study layout, I'd expect a topical study layout which maybe was just misspelled in the function call or not rolled out to us users as intended. Probably not a big deal to fix, and maybe there is a workaround in opening that same layout - or a functionally equivalent one - manually.

EDIT I think this is the support article showing how it should work: https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/28756571440141-Studying-a-Topic-with-Logos - going by analogy with https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/28756499675277-Studying-a-Bible-Passage-with-Logos

I can duplicate this problem and I have opened a ticket so that we can investigate it further.

Hello Matt, I encountered this issue while using Verbum. I noticed the update is for Logos—does Verbum also have an update?
