a few basic questions about notes

I have a few basic questions about Logos Notes.

First, my understanding is that while exporting notes is simple, in order to actually import notes, I need to import them one verse at a time by hand. Is this correct? If this is not correct, what format do they need to be in?

Second, is it alright if notes mix and match languages? For example, if the note is primarily in English, but has a random Hebrew or Greek word, is that alright? Or will that provoke note corruption?

Third, regarding privacy, how do I ensure that my notes are never seen by anyone but myself? In case it helps to know, I don’t need my notes to sync anywhere.

Thank you for any clarity anyone can provide.

    Kristin,

I don't know all of the answers but from my understanding…

Mixing and matching languages works. I've only copied and pasted Hebrew into a note before. I've never typed Hebrew or Greek into a note.

As for privacy, they do sync. However, unless someone is using your computer, phone, or tablet, no one would be able to read them. I'm not up to date on Android, but I know on iOS, you can set individual apps to need Face ID or Thumbprint to open, which would add a layer of safety to that.

As for your first question about importing notes, as far as I know, you are correct in that regard; however, I could be wrong. Where are you importing the notes from?

    Hi @Jonathan Bradley ,

Thank you for clarifying this. Regarding my notes, my notes are not currently in a workable format. They are originally from Accordance, but Accordance unfortunately doesn't have an export function. :( So I am exporting them by hand which is taking forever.

I am exporting them into Mac Numbers, which has worked really well for my organization, but I would really doubt that the format I have them in would work for importing them anywhere. It has just been so much work to export them, that I had been thinking that it might make sense to try to export them into a certain note format for Logos (as well as into my Mac Numbers files), if it would ultimately save time. However, it sounds like I should just keep doing what I'm doing.

Thank you again for clarifying the language and privacy concerns, I appreciate it.

If logos can sync and backup your notes then it would seem to me that they have by default have all the data from your notes and should they want to read them or use them to teach their AI. I am not sure why they couldn't uless they have some legal statement concerning the privacy of user notes.

Logos has repeatedly said that they do not read or use uploaded materials beyond what a user explicitly allowed. There are a number of countries with privacy laws that would prohibit Logos from borrowing the material for training.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks this is good to know! As those of us who are not MVPs or super Logos users may like myself not be aware of these repeatedly stated statements. I do not recall reading any of such legal statement about notes, but would be curious to do so if I knew where they were.
