“Montanism was the first manifestation of a particular form of Christianity which has appeared several times in the course of Church history; today it would be called ‘Pentecostal’ or ‘charismatic’.” (Pages 114–115)
While certainly Montanism and later Donatism, were both versions of the Christian Faith which flourished in Roman North Africa from the 2nd C through to the 5th, and while some of their iterations cropped up from time to time subsequently, I’m pretty sure from the likes of Hollenweger through to Macchia there would be forcible disagreement! Sure; other extracted quotes seem reasonable. Yet …!!!??? You/Logos (and the author) do the unwary a disservice here. Logos user of 30 years.
