39.1 (39.1.006) is now available

The Logos Bible Study application version 39.1 is now available to all users.
To immediately update to the current stable version, enter Update Now
into the command box. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it is scheduled to check for updates.

@Matt Mattox - same issue as previous updates, Update Now command does not recognize the available update nor does Logos recognize it.
I uninstalled and am doing a fresh install of 39.1 - hopefully the next update works as intended.

@Matt Mattox same for me Vetbum/Mac. Update now does not work, restart and Update now does not work.

Are you using the stable or beta update channel? If you're on the beta channel, the 39.1 update is not there.

What's up, Matt? 2 in a row sideways.
I haven't yet installed the last 1. I will leave this 1 un- till it's fixed.

Thank you @Vlad I thought I was on stable, as I always move back to that on general releases, until beta 1 is out. I didn't do that this time. Thanks for the reminder, sorry for the false alarm. All good here.

Was the Sermon Editor bug addressed in this update?

On Mac:
After the update, the button to restart is missing.
The link to the release notes from the app goes to the nirwana.

On the mac regarding the update, try closing out of the app and then re-launch. It should show up.

There was no sermon editor updates. What sermon issue were you referring to?

An additional note to this - I was able to update with no problem on a second laptop from 38.1 to 39.1
Logos gave the notification of updates available - the Update Now command was not needed. Both systems are on the Default Update Channel.
We'll see if the uninstall and fresh install on my primary allows the next update without issues.

Thanks for the thread, that helps. Looks like a team member commented regarding the status, in case you missed it, here's the latest comment. Needless to say, no updates were release in v39.1 regarding issues related to Sermon Builder.
"Thank you all for your great feedback and bug reports in this thread. I have verified that cases have been created for a number of these issues, and I am creating cases for some of the new ones I have found in this thread. As for the few sometimes reproducible ones, I will take a further look at those and see about getting cases passed onto the team for those as well."0 -
This should be fixed now. @Fabian

Since update… Sermon Builder
(1) Can't enter text without having "insertion helpers" turned on and if you hit enter too soon doesn't work. You have to type the reference, pause, wait for the "helper" to come on then hit enter.
(2) Can't type on scripture heading line. Top line that shows "John 3:16" used to be able to alter such as
"TEXT | John 3:16" or "TEXT | Jesus to Nicodemus | John 3:3"
(3) Clicking off of text… Highlight some text, change the color or style, then try to click off of the text… What is the deal? I have to click three or four times to get off of it.
I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but the changes are very frustrating to those that use this daily.
The only benefit I've seen so far is the ability to drag and drop lines of text, which, to be fair is a huge benefit I've been wishing for a long time.

@Fabian the release notes should now direct you to the correct page.

Hi, was Skolar (Logos 7 default) font removed from v39.1 desktop?
0 -
Thanks for the report. The Sermons team has cases and plans to address these in the future.

Skolar was removed almost 2.5 years ago in Logos 9.17:

However, if anybody installs Skolar as a font in the OS, Logos will offer it as an available resource font in the Program Settings

The release notes indicate that they made changes in this area. It doesn't seem to crash as it did in the previous version if you didn't wait for the scripture reference to turn into a link and hit CR or TAB, but it still doesn't populate the Scripture as you would hope. They also made it so that the insertion helper dialogs can be suppressed with ESC, but if you do the CR or Tab won't have any effect. I also have encountered a case where the scripture reference won't turn into a link without retyping it. I think its better but its still not as good as it was before 39 when it didn't have those useless dialogs that popup (IMHO).

I just posted a new thread…It's so broken at this point that it is unusable.

I agree. I am puzzled how this made it through alpha and beta testing. Unfortunately, in all honesty, that means I have to review my beta testing practices.

Given the warnings about beta testing, including losing everything, I could see a lot of beta testers doing their sermon work in a stable build rather than in beta.

Betas are usually stable and you are unlikely to lose anything, especially if you install it on another computer or in a different User space on the same computer. Problems arise if you attempt to return to a stable build and don't follow the guidance about a complete uninstall.

Myself, I have always considered opting in to a beta test implies spending some time testing rather than simply doing one's normal tasks.

While I was preparing my sermon in sermon builder last week in 39.1.6, I had a few issues with everything disappearing from the screen and it going completely blank. I would input the text reference and hit tab to place the text in line and everything would be gone. Shocked me and left me with a bit of a heart attack for a second. I had to reopen the sermon from the documents and it was there but it happened multiple times. I'm not sure if it was due to speed or if it's a bug in the software.

When I copy from word (I don't edit in the sermon editor, it lacks functionality), when I copy from word it inserts random line breaks. in more than half of the sentences, in multiple places in a sentence.

Sorry, that you are running into that @Suzanne Zampella. We do have a case for this issue and plan to address it in the future. This thread will get updated once the fix is released and I'll do my best to ping you as well.
