Feb's Monthly Sale Has Some Good Academic-ish

First, you have your Anchor Yales. That's a bit touch and go, relative to libraries.
Then, you have some inexpensive Zondervan Exegeticals. I bought all 3 for $15 or so.
Finally, if you're missing any Marginal Jews (I was missing vol 5), the dynamic pricing pulls in individual volumes not currently on sale.
Good month, this month.

I thought it was a great FBOM. Though I had a few from the Zondervan series, I hadn't given them much of a look because so many Z commentaries are sort of light. These look better (from my point of view, of course). I will go for the others in the series that are on sale.

Agree. I already took a gander at Joel, to see how handled. Joel's sort of a canary-in-the-coal mine book, both OT and NT usage.
I especially like the translation feature in ZECOT. but unfortunately I couldn't submit it to my Translation Comparison tool (translation isn't Bible-indexed).
Both have an interesting verse-by-verse translation-structure diagramming. Nice.

Certainly one of the best discounted and free book sales in a while. I was very pleased! Thank you to whoever planned this one out!!! I picked up 8 volumes from the Free book of the month sale. And there was a very nice Subscriber free book, too.
The Verbum free book was a repeat, it was the free book for Verbum back in 9/2021. I don't think I've seen a repeat before.

An unfortunate side of large libraries is getting FBOMs that you already have. That's the "downside" of being ridiculously blessed. 😁Very thankful, indeed.

And then there's the NIC sale. Not bad….

Well, NK, NIC isn't my cup of tea, of my major commentaries. But the price was too hard to ignore! Thank you!

I typically like NIC. I don't have 10 vol, and most of these were newer versions of the old ones that I already have. I went to BestCommentaries.com and find that the newer ones have lower ratings than the older ones! huh?
It costs be about $110 for the 10 newer volumes (primarily). Are the new ones worth purchasing. Any thoughts anybody?
Thank you

On one hand, I think a lot of the older ones are still very good and if I was going to spend the money, there's probably other books I'd rather buy than newer versions of books I already have (sometimes I wish they had a way to offer the newer edition at a significantly discounted rate to those who already owned the first).
But on the other hand.. roughly $10 a volume is about the cheapest I've ever seen these. There have been a few occasions where most of the series was on sale, but even then they were $19.99. I doubt you'll see lower.

This was definitely too hard to pass up. The lowest I've ever seen and the lowest I'm aware of for this set.

Ok, help me understand. What do you mean AY are touch and go? Forgive my ignorance.

No need to forgive. Anchor Yale is sort of 'a little of this, a little of that'. If you know what you like and you know Anchor Yale, you're in business. However, each volume varies relative to a customer's interest … some great, some meh. I have the full commentary, but on the libraries, I pick and choose (mostly don't). Some of their experiments over the years, I really wanted to work (eg Andersen, and then Freedman). And, I've even tried to get Albright's Matthew to work, in some sort of dimension.
I'm guessing you look at commentaries in the normal way.

Gotcha. Kind of hit and miss.
Well, I looked at the FBOTM page and those books aren't there. Is there another page or did they change it?

If you have duplicate commentaries, such as the old and new NIC volumes, does Logos by default prioritize the newer one? Is there any easy way to note that the other one exists?

AYB was on the featured publisher page.

Don't think so (prioritize). As to finding them, don't know. How helpful was that?!
But personally, I tag my commentaries, and multiples come up for air, in my multi-book displays … 2 from the same commentary. Eventually one gets kicked out … not necessarily the most recent. Depends.
