Logos removed features from Bible software

Be aware of Logos Upgrade
I have never been this upset before over anything, but on February 24, 2025. I updated my Logos 10 software version to 40.0.351, (see image below), and on February 25 I notice the copy location feature (attached image), was totally remove from the copy option. I contacted Logos and was told that this feature is permanently removed from my / your logos software version that was purchased, (Bronze Edition in my case) with thousand of dollars $$$$ adding books to my library. In fact as seen below I have 2335 resources in my library. I was told this feature is NOW ONLY AVAILABLE TO SUBSCRIPTION MEMBERS.
My personal option, this is WRONG!!! I truly hope logos do the right thing and restore this feature to individual who purchased the software so that less technical individual like myself that doesn't know any other way to implement this SIMPLE feature would still appreciate the software. I am not shy to event post my email owing to the cost to put in this program.
I have also advocate to hundreds of persons over the last several to invest in this program and I am feeling guilty that many will experience issue for something that I cannot help them with.

To get clarification with you being a Logos 8 full feature owner, I just wanted to verify if the screenshot you provided with the "Copy Location" option was a previous screenshot when you had the feature and that the feature is no longer there in Logos version 40.0.351 (after clicking the three vertical dots and being given a menu of options) or if the screenshot is current from 40.0.351 and that you no longer are able to select it. I own the Logos 10 full feature set and am a non-subscriber, and in my case, the "Copy Location" option is still there in Logos 40.0.351 and that I'm still able to select it…
If it's indeed true that the "Copy location" option got removed for Logos 8 full feature owners, it dims my view of Faithlife even more, and now this is going to cause me to keep a close eye on this feature in my Logos installation as a L10 full feature owner. I've been very unhappy with Faithlife ever since the pushes and nudges from them to get owners of purchased feature sets to subscribe (the requirement to subscribe in order to be able to purchase a 2025 bundled library is such an example). If this is indeed true of an instance of a Logos 8 full feature owner having the "Copy location" feature removed, it makes me even more unhappy with Faithlife, and I could never, ever recommend the software to other people in light of these happenings.

The screen shot was taken this morning and emailed to Logos customer service who advice me that that feature has migrated to logos subscription member.
Hope this will help in clarifying any issue regarding the time frame.
Thank you

So they indeed disabled many options for you as a Logos 8 full feature owner (the options being grayed out and no longer selectable). To be quite blunt, that's terrible of Faithlife to do this, and I'm definitely even more unhappy with them.

This is untrue. The copy location feature has changed some (for all users), but it has not been taken away. Please see the following thread for more information regarding this conversation:

That is correct! Over $9,000, and feature that was part of the purchased package is no longer available there are migrated to subscription members. On Feb., 18, last week I was on the phone with the logos customer service rep because of another disabled feature…gone. I am extremely disappointed. I will not go subscription…I will be satisfied with the resources I current have but I will totally disable and refused to update Logos going forward.

It wouldn't be the first time that someone in Customer Service was trying to be helpful but not really understanding what happened. In your screenshot the functionality "Copy Location" seems to be there (not the former options to have URL, L4, Wiki, RL, or HTML which still show in my old v36.1) so my question would be what happens if you click it and then go somewhere - e.g. an editor, a word processor or a note within Logos - and hit paste.
My understanding would be that it should work and give a ref.ly link (the former URL format) to the location in your book - if it doesn't it's a bug and should be fixed in a quick service release.

To "The Truth of the Bible," are you currently able to select any of the other options that are in the menu of options from the screenshot you provided (options such as "Read aloud, "Enter Full Screen," "Duplicate This Panel")? I ask because I noticed that the shortcuts for all of these options are grayed out in your setup, just like with "Copy location."

Please mention precisely the tasks that you were previously able to accomplish and now no longer can.

This was wat I send to Logos customer service on Feb., 18, also having customer service remote connected to my Mac to visually see the issues I was having, but was'nt able to help.
She eventually asked to provide Logos weith a screen shot an log file…only one Feb., 18. One week later I am having a whold different mind numbing experience.

Following up from my prior question to Truth of the Matter, I already see an answer to it. In Truth's latest screenshot, look carefully at the menu of options that he has, and you'll notice that the shortcuts for many of those options are grayed out in his setup. Again, keep in mind that he owns the Logos 8 full feature set and is a non-subscriber. In comparison, I own the Logos 10 full feature set and am also a non-subscriber, and if you look closely at the same options in my setup in the screenshot I provided earlier in the thread, you'll notice that the shortcuts for those matching menu options are not grayed out in my setup separate from "Copy location" (options for "Information," "Show Locator Bar," "Show Left Sidebar," "Show Inline Search," "Read aloud," "Print/Export," "Enter Full Screen," "Duplicate This Panel," "Float This Panel,"). The shortcuts are all grayed out for him, but not for me, and we're both using version 40.0.351.
This confirms that Faithlife disabled those options in Truth's setup in light of him being an owner of the Logos 8 full feature set and not a subscriber. Again, to be blunt, this is terrible of Faithlife. Absolutely terrible.

Better to let the dust settle … the greying has a popup, not on web. Bug?

In light of the feedback Truth got from technical support regarding needing to subscribe to have features restored, I doubt this is a bug.

I am not a Mac user, so I have no insights what makes keyboard shortcuts appear grey instead of black on you guy's screens - but I would assume that if all these functionalities were removed, then the menu entries themselves would be grey (such as "Show word by word indicator" which probably turns on only in Greek bibles supporting it and when one ones a license to the Greek Audio NT ). I don't see any reason fo this, too.
From the posts I understand that the former format options for location links have been removed for non-subscribers - the same happened for subscribers even earlier and was communicated in the forums, in the version 40 thread this has been explained by Logos. The format options - most of which were unnecessary or are now obsolete - all display basically the same link, and the ref.ly-links that are still supported do work online as well as offline on Windows and Mac. The feature should work for both of you regardless of package level Logos 8 or Logos 10.
Have joy in the Lord!

That can't be the case regarding appearance of gray on a Mac because you'll notice from Truth's latest screenshot that not all shortcuts are grayed out. Look carefully (look at the "Columns" option and the "Copy location as" option)…
Faithlife removed functionality from Truth's setup.

I was told this feature is NOW ONLY AVAILABLE TO SUBSCRIPTION MEMBERS.
CS was mistaken/wrong; this feature is not only available to subscribers.
If it's indeed true that the "Copy location" option got removed for Logos 8 full feature owners
It's not true.

This isn't true.

This isn't true.
In Truth's latest screenshot, look carefully at the menu of options that he has, and you'll notice that the shortcuts for many of those options are grayed out in his setup.
That's just how they display on macOS (I don't know why). None of those features are disabled.
This confirms that Faithlife disabled those options in Truth's setup in light of him being an owner of the Logos 8 full feature set and not a subscriber.
This isn't true.
Faithlife removed functionality from Truth's setup.
This is true, but it's also true that the "Copy Location As" functionality was removed from all users, including subscribers, in version 40. For details, see:
In v40, the ability to create
logos4:
links has been removed, because thehttps://ref.ly/
links that replace them implement all the same functionality. And even though they look like web links, they will open directly in the Logos application when clicked from another app on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. (On the web, they will open a web page.)2 -
Truth of the Bible, can you run a test for us? Can you bring up that same menu from whatever resource you open, then select "Duplicate This Panel" and check to see if it duplicates the open resource in another panel and then let us know what happens? Also, can you give us a list of features you were able to perform previously but are no longer able to perform now (besides the "Copy location" feature)? Thanks.

In case Truth is offline, I tried it on the Mac (has grey'd out fast-keys). Works. The grey'd out, has been that way for a long time.
I still wonder if the issue is offline vs online (the old L4 vs the ref.ly)

Is there any way to go back to a previous version. I believe it is moral WRONG and dishonest to buy anything, in this case a piece of software, lets say Logos Bible software, a car that comes with ABS or cruise control and one day you take your car in to do routine maintenance.
After picking up your car you realized you no longer have cruise control or ABS or any one feature you relied on before. When you confront the dealer, you are told the manufacturer no longer offering ABS or cruise control as an option any longer, as of January you will have to pay a premium for it. Why? Because going forward all new vehicle will also be charge a premium for having it as well.
Had I known this would have happen I would NEVER take my vehicle to the dealer, I would take it to the guy doing his business in his driveway. I have been using Logos Bible Software since mid '90s and I LOVE it even to this day. For Logos to remove a SIMPLE COPY FUNCTIONALITY from the software speaks volume to me. I would think if they implement NEW FEATURES and limit those features to subscription use only that would be justified. Being an older person I've live long to see and come to realized when it comes to money company looked at their client based as estimate potential lost of revenue then makes a decision how to recoup. If my car dealer is offering free 30 point inspection I would pay the guy working in his driveway to do it.
Again you dont get to have over 2,300 resources in your library when you don't even own the two top tears product.
Let the buyer be aware, today for the first time since 1996 I have a problem that I am making my voice be heard, tomorrow it will be someone else. I hope it will never come to the point that I loose access to my resources. The idea of copy and paste might seems simple to everyone but I copy the resources to word and work from word I dont use Notes…I'm old school and stick to what i find easy to do.

Bradley coments is not totally true as indicated by my emails to Logos. I do have a hugh problem with Copy Location as:, It simply does not exist.

I don't understand - Bradley stated that Copy Location as was removed in Logos 40 - for all users including subscribers.
And he goes on to say:
In v40, the ability to create
logos4:
links has been removed, because thehttps://ref.ly/
links that replace them implement all the same functionality. If that is not the case for you, I am sure the Logos team would want to understand in what way the ref.ly links do not provide what you need.

I do have a hugh problem with Copy Location as:, It simply does not exist.
Use the "Copy Location" command, which is in the same location on the panel menu, instead.

I am going to say this and don't mean to be harsh towards CS - but the reality is, there have been a number of instances where they give incorrect information.
@Bradley Grainger (Logos) on the other hand is usually on the money with the information that he shares.
This is an instance that something changed from what we are used to using - that is all.

We've taken steps to ensure our Support team is aware this is available to everyone, not just subscribers. I appreciate you taking the time to let us know.

Kristen thank you so much. Prior to the current Logos 8 Library, all previous major upgrades before I purchase I would asked If the 'featured set', as it was referred to then, would changed and I would always told no. That gave me the confidence to invest in the Bible Software of choice, Logos. I also understand that one day I might opted for a subscription option but if I want to copy and paste links why do I feel like I'm forced to do so.
If there are resistance in restoring this feature, please give me this oppertunity to go back to the version I had yesterday Feb., 24.
Again thank you.
If I might asked one favour…. If I could be notified such time when it is safe to be restored as I am a bit reluctant in updating again.

You already have the ability to Copy Location, as has been clarified in this thread. Please try to use Copy Location as you previously did and report back if you have any trouble. I do see that you have the ability to Copy Location, as it is present in the following screenshot you shared:

Alf be happy! They've been trying to tell you, they didn't steal your copy feature … they upgraded it (with a new name). And it's in your software. Try it! Everyone else has been using it …. you too!

@The Truth of The Bible — I think we're all a bit confused as to why you think the feature has been removed. In the screenshot you said you sent to CS, the Copy Location option is clearly visible.
Are you expecting to click on URL, HTML, L4, etc., and are now unable to do so because those options aren't there?
Those options have been removed, but the copy functionality is still available. To copy the location to the clipboard, you no longer need to click on URL, HTML, etc. Instead, you click on the words Copy Location. (We removed the options because we improved Copy Location to give the best of the old URL and L4 options — and almost no one used the other options.)

Sorry to ask, but where would be "Copy location" in the Windows App?

where would be "Copy location" in the Windows App?
At the same place as in the Mac screenshots - however, your screenshot shows the new resource toolbar, since you are a subscriber. Here it would be the Copy link button in the Share submenu of the toolbar.

Sorry that I wasn't able to respond earlier…
First I must thank everyone for there valuable input in offering assistance in trying to help resolve the issue I was having.
There might have been confusion on my part but I stemmed from two interaction from Logos costumer representatives concerning the same issue of copying resources. One who I gave permission to remotely logged onto my computer in an effort to see first hand the issues I was having, she was NOT able to help, only advised that I should take screen shots and and send with log file to Logos, which I did.
Thinking that there was a "bug", within the week I updated to 40.0.351 and the issue persisted. When I contacted customer service rep, again, after verifying the software version and sending these same screen shots to Logos after several back and forth from her technical team, I was told that those features were removed and NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO ME those features were now ONLY AVAILABLE TO SUBSCRIPTION MEMBER.
Subsequently I was told to access the comunity forum and see if anyone would or could help in locating the previous version as Logas ONLY provides technical support to current version. That is why I am here! As stated in previous post I am a old-timer who invested a lot and hearing that was extremely disappointing to me. Now I know that wasn't the case after reading these posts. Thanks to all contributors. Blessing!
I noticed there is an update pending I will update the software and give a report as to the outcome.

"Why so mad about the proprietary book format, Trevor?"
Oh I dunno… maybe cause one day I'll see a forum title: Logos Removed BOOKS from software.
"Sorry, ya our publisher who maintains the rights over these certain books, is having a legal dispute, so ya we aren't allowed to have them in our software anymore. Oops, sorry about that. Nothing we can do." \(〇_o)/
