Mac and Iphone Kids Protection

I know this has got nothing to do with Logos, but I just need some advice. I am looking at getting a Macbook, but I would need to have some sort of software that block my kids when they are playing on the Macbook. I would also like to make use of it on my Iphone. The screen time function does work as nice as I would like it to be. We have been using the Microsoft family safety app for the desktop pc and the xbox. And that works great as they can send you a notification for approval of website or app. So I you know of something similar that can be used in Mac and Iphone please I will appreciate it. But it must also be something that will not cause me problems and with logos.

@John thank you but I want something different from the one Apple provides. We have numerous problems with for approving websites where its not working. It Blocks the ability to sign in without services using Re-Captcha, and when we are not home to approve on the device itself, it does not have the functionality the send a request and we can approve remotely.

I have never used any of these so I cannot advise. But I have used openDNS in the past with great results…. But never used the child or paid features.

If your kids are smart enough they can probably bypass any of these 😀

What about OpenDNS Family Shield? It sets protection up at router level if I've understood correctly. I haven't set it up yet though.

what I am looking at is software recommendations where you can block websites and apps, that when you as a parent are not physically available to grant access to the certain app, they child then gets a notification on the device asking to send a request for the approval of the website or app remotely.

Yes but you have to have a router that supports it. Also I am not sure if it is setup as a subscription service where you have to pay monthly…

Ok I looked up my Netgear router information and it appears that OpenDNS parental control used to be built into some routers. However Netgear (and likely other manufacturers) no longer include that.

You can still configure any router to use OpenDNS as its DNS server, and configuration for child controls is apparently done on OpenDNS website.

Another thing I did not know is that OpenDNS is now owned by Cisco … but is still a free service.
