Reformat (indentation) highlighting options for Chiasm

Add a “Reformat Highlighting” option that allows users to automatically indent their highlights to reflect chiastic (or other symmetric) structures in the text.

What it would do:

  • Let users select a passage, mark chiastic pairs (e.g., A-B-C-B’-A’), and have Logos automatically reformat the text with corresponding indentation levels.
  • Alternatively, allow users to apply indentation manually within the Highlighting tool itself (similar to bullet points or outline levels in Word).
  • Ideally, users could save different chiastic patterns as templates for future study.

Why this matters:

Chiasm isn’t just an observation; it’s part of the inspired literary architecture. Being able to see the structure visually at a glance would:

Dramatically increase comprehension of complex passages.

  • Help students, pastors, and scholars better internalize the Bible’s literary design.
  • Turn Logos into a truly world-class tool for structural literary analysis, not just word studies.

Bonus points:

  • Allow exporting the indented chiastic text into Word, PowerPoint, or PDFs while keeping the formatting.
  • Let users assign different highlight colors or styles to corresponding chiastic pairs.

Right now, people have to awkwardly fake this using notes or external editors. Logos could easily leap ahead here by offering real support for visualizing biblical structure.

Chiasms are only part of this issue - parallels, stair steps, inclusios, …
