This is a bundle of two ~$12 books. The bundle is $30. Seems off…

<chuckling> That's actually kind of funny:
"Total value if sold separately: $22.78,"
"Sale price [for the bundle]: $30.39"
:)
This is broadly an issue. I've seen it in lots of different bundles at this point. It seems like a change in how they're calculating as I don't recall seeing this problem at all prior to when the subscription launched.
It's a great callout, @Mattillo, and I have found that it is important to consider items on sale alongside collections. I also see that a note is in place at checkout to address this matter.
For what it is worth, I did check the individual items as well.
Either it used to not be important to consider items on sale and the sale was figured into the bundle pricing, or I somehow never ran into this before. I used to always be able to switch to the bundle for a better deal but now I've run into enough problems I assume it will be more expensive until I check the details.
But see, they aren't on sale other than the 5% subscriber discount. This seems to happen often.
There's many other examples of packages where the package price is more expensive than the every day price of the components.
