Expose the Pager feature in the API

I'd like to be able to enter a parent code on a tablet from the nursery and page the parents without having to leave the room to go to the sound booth, or figure out who to text, or worry about using radios. It would be great if I could just page them from the classroom from a simple web/mobile app I've created. Exposing the pager feature in the Proclaim API would be very beneficial.

It would require just a couple of endpoints:

  • "showPager" with a "message" parameter - shows the message on the screen.
  • "clearPager" with no parameters - clears the pager message from the screen.

I like this idea. Perhaps one could combine it with the Companion "Generic Data Entry" module to do it all from a Stream Deck.

I'd also add the ability to query the current pager message. Generally, there are quite a number of places where Proclaim's API could usefully be fleshed out a bit, particularly around getting current status info back out of Proclaim.

Yes I am looking for this functionality as well.

We are a small church (around 40 people, 70% are over 50 years old) in an old building with 2 stories. The upper floor is the sanctuary and AV booth, while the lower floor is our fellowship hall, children room and nursery. We usually have 2 volunteers downstairs during service handling the children, and sometimes some older kids and adults who just wandered downstairs looking for things to do/eat/feel bored.

There are situations where the 2 volunteers need additional help. However, if one of them come upstairs, then they will either leave the people downstairs unattended or leave one to handle the people both of them cannot handle by themselves, especially like mentioned before, 70% of us are over 50 years old, so running upstairs are not easy to some of the volunteers (our eldest children volunteer is 90 years old). Call or text may not be viable as most of us are adviced to turn off notifications during service. So we are looking for a solution that the volunteers can press a button, and display a message on the projection screen that they need help, and our deacons can go downstairs to support them.

I understand currently we can use the API to switch to a quick screen, but that seems to be very intriguing. A crawl text or a pager API that display something to notify our deacons would be a great way to help.
