What’s New?

We’ve reimagined the New Tab panel and brought it to the Web App for the first time! New Tab gives you faster, more flexible access to the tools and resources you use most. For anyone who needs to stay organized and efficient in their work, the New Tab panel is essential. It helps you quickly switch between tools, filter results by reference, and access the right resources in just a few clicks. With the ability to filter by reference and toggle between different views, this feature ensures that you can always find what you need, no matter the context.

  • Everything View
    • Quickly access recently opened tools, documents, resources, and more! If you're launching it for the first time, you'll see a curated list of popular items, automatically replaced with your frequently used items over time as you use the app.

  • Reference View
    • When a resource is open, the New Tab adapts to show relevant tools, workflows, guides, and books based on the active reference, so you’re always just a click away from what matters most to your current study.

Note: Filter views (Everything/Reference) only appear when opening the New Tab with a resource open. Otherwise, it defaults to the Everything view.

The new and improved New Tab is geared towards empowering study workflows with a clean, intuitive experience that just works. All of this comes together in a seamless, easy-to-use interface designed to streamline your workflow.

The updated New Tab Panel is now available to test on the web app. We’re eager to hear your feedback, let us know what you think in the comments below!

I wish that when the active resource tab show Mark 1:1-8 as the reference, New Tab didn't truncate it to Mark 1:1. I would like to see the Lesson Builder paralleling the sermon/homily builder. I need to do some additional prioritization to get several sections to show what I would most likely want - journals being the farther off by default. But generally, I think this is off in the right direction.

Great first impression of the Reference view! Very positive change.

I still find the Everything view to be unhelpful. I would much prefer being able to select which tools and resources display in the new tab screen. This would save me time. As it is, resources and tools constantly move around, forcing me to search too long. For this reason, other methods of opening tools and resources are currently more efficient.

Agreeing with @Aaron Hamilton on the Everything view; it's too kitchen-sink for me.

I like the Reference view, especially the groupings, but I'm not sure about the placements (e.g. Study Bibles all the way down); being able to arrange the groupings in our preferred sequence would be great.

Another thing … I wish we could collapse a list after we clicked on More, then we'd have less scrolling to see the next grouping.

Just tried it. Intuitively, I tried to right-click on a resource shown in the new tab to open it in an other new tab (and keep the suggestions of the first ´new tab´ in sight). It doesn't work like I expected and only opened a new browser tab.

    Could that be modified?

And - as already asked by @Aaron Hamilton, could we have

to select which tools and resources display in the new tab screen ?

    Thanks, everyone.

We plan to add a filter to the Everything tab, similar to the library filter, to make it easier to find the book or tool you need. It's likely to be several months before we get to that, though.

We'll think about the ordering of the reference tab, too. After tools, the ordering is roughly in line with how many resources of each type there are, so if you don't have many study Bibles they will appear lower down the list. For me, the order is Bibles, Commentaries, Study Bibles.

@Mark Barnes (Logos) Could this filter be used to select user tags? And will the most recently used filter setting be remembered? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then I'm really excited for this update; I could use tags to personalize the resources listed on the New Tab screen.

I'm not sure what the solution would be for tools, however, since they cannot be tagged. It would be nice if there were a way for users to mark their favorite tools for quick access on the New Tab screen as well.

@Mark Barnes (Logos) Hmm, that makes sense, but not fully. The fourth type for me is Bible Harmony and I have 18 of these; on the other hand, I have 45 study Bibles and yet they're all the way at the bottom, next to last before Guides and Workflows. I acknowledge you said roughly in line but that's still way off.

I would like to see the reference view resources open in a new or separate panel so that you don’t lose sight of the reference view. Alternatively, if resources open in the same panel, as is now the case, a back arrow to easily revert to the reference view resources.

The improvement has made the New Tab panel more useful and practical. I like this preliminary version.

Perhaps "Everything" would be better labeled "Recent".
