Is there a "Video" explaining what NOTE "Anchors" is for and what it does?
Can anyone explain what Anchors do?
The short answer is that Anchors anchor to a Bible reference or to selected text. When you anchor you get an indicator image (like a postit note) next to the selection.
Thanks OK I've never used "Anchors" cause it was doing what I wanted. [;)]What you don't know won't hurt you. At 73 I don't explore much. If it's working don't mess with it.
So now I see "Add Anchor" and 2 choices. 1) Active Reference - what's that? What criteria chose that suggestion, 2) Reference - I'm guessing I can enter my own.
What am I creating my own cross-reference system?
I suppose you could use notes for cross reference however i think you would be wise to look at the Faithlife (Logos)web site under the support heading and the training section for a better understanding of the tool. I have found Morris Proctor's web site very helpful.
73? You're still young. My retired rancher Dad was still going into the grade schools to solve their computer problems at 85.
Think of an anchor as where you wanted to be reminded that the note exist. Active reference is the reference showing in your active panel - active panel has the orange line. Yes, the alternative is to enter your own reference ... another place you want to see the note. So if the note is about the relationship among 3 verses you could make each of the verses an anchor. When you have the notes on in the visual filter, the flag for the note will appear on all three.
Ah MJS to the rescue. Thanks that's cool. Now I know it won't bite. Thanks
MJ can you please tell me if this possible on mobile or web app, when I am doing a study on a person or place and you have created your note with all the info about that person, can you link that note so that it links to all the places in the Bible where that name is mentioned.

THESE Q&A's use language terms ONLY relating to Logos, NOT WHAT experienced WIN10/MAC users AND New and forced to use customers —- as TAKEN from the Wordsearch Software - to this OVERLY COMPLICATED LOGOS Software!!
HOW DO "ANCHORS" RELATE to Linking MY OWN Notes to MY OWN "Table of Contents"? Are "Anchors" equal to "Bookmarks" (TARGETS TEXT in paragraphs), or to the TARGETING/SHORTCUT "LINKS"? … i.e. from My TABLE OF CONTENTS LIST with-IN my same page of NOTES/NOTEBOOKS, can be connected to the TARGETED BOOKMARK section (topic) of my notes?
Is the "Anchor" the "Link"/"Shortcut to take" (i.e. TOC list item) or the "Bookmark" (Word /"Target" to get to?!) (… linking to other resources is SECONDARY, but seems to be ONLY option??)
[ . . . ALL OF MY PREVIOUSLY made notes (OVER YEARS) WERE WIPED OUT!! FROM THE WORDSEARCH Software "TAKEOVER"/"SELLOUT"! …and YES, I am still angry! I also dislike that you are SELLING "Help" "SUBSCRIPTIONS" for what should have been "Intuitively Programed" while providing simple the "F1" etc.! & WITH "WINDOWS TERMS"!]
[GOOGLE instead of LOGOS got me here to EVEN question! (After DECADES of WINDOWS/MAC use, I am NOT going to read "How To" Manuals). Having to LEARN LOGOS takes AWAY Actual REAL study time! The ONLY POSSIBLE DRAW(?) to use Logos is POSSIBLY the Resources & Syncing of those resources, - BUT BARELY!! ….There is my "FEEDBACK" that Logos never asks for, as well!]
@Catherine A Dean , I'm sincerely sorry you are so angry and upset! I never used WordSearch, but I gather you once bought it, used it, loved it, but then were understandably unhappy when WordSearch apparently decided they were not doing well, and to "sell out" to a different company that makes a very different product, Logos. So now you're stuck, unable to use your WordSearch knowledge and skills in Logos because it's a different program and works differently. You have good reasons to be frustrated!
But, are you very sure that deliberately and consciously refusing to learn how to use this different program well isn't "cutting off your nose to spite your face?" And choosing to stay miserable?
I've never used WordSearch, so I can't compare, but I've read many others complaining that Logos is big and complicated and hard to learn. It is my impression that Logos has been working hard to try to make it easier for newcomers, only to find some seasoned Logos users bitterly complaining that they're changing a program they knew how to use! Seems like Logos can't win…
But I have used many other apps over many years, including word processors, spreadsheets, graphics editing, video editing, music editing, musical score notation "engraving" program, and more, and have found every single time, no kidding every single time without exception, that I need to learn the new app, and will be frustrated until I do, but I'll be much happier once I just "go with the program" and learn how to use the darn thing. A very long time ago, I used WordPerfect on DOS machines (yeah, I said it was a long time ago! That was before Windows existed!), and then switched to Word on Windows. Then I moved to the Mac and started using Pages instead of Word, but then I switched to LibreOffice for several years. Then in order to work on some things for my priest who uses Pages, I went back to Pages. EVERY TIME, Catherine, there was a learning curve! The way each of those apps do things is different, and EVERY TIME it seemed like the one I was used to was easy and intuitive but the NEW one was impossible to use and completely stupid! … until I learned how to use it! And then everything was better!
I'm sincerely sorry you are so frustrated, I am, but I urge you to stop choosing to stay righteously miserable and just bite the bullet and learn how to use Logos. Nothing's perfect, so Logos isn't either. But I've been using it since either version 2 or the first one, I forget, it's been so long, and I love Logos, and am grateful for it.
I would suggest opening Logos and the Library (your available books), and searching for "QuickStart." There is probably a series of videos for your version of Logos (in my case, there are several for different versions, but the latest one was "QuickStart for Logos 10" (and "QuickStart for Logos 10: Outline" which shows the whole series of videos). They're all short, and in my experience, just no kidding amazingly helpful! If you go through them all, I really think you will feel better about things. There is more help available on the Logos website.
@Catherine A Dean To add to Theophan's encouragement, a former WordSearch user (in this thread) posted a link to three free webinars (from MP Seminars) to help WS users transition to Logos. Maybe they can be helpful to you.
Well, Theophan, An Evaluation or a Grade for your reply would OBVIOUSLY reflect Fail! SINCE you have conveyed NO INFORMATION. ONE USUALLY “BITES THE BULLET” when contacting “TECH SUPPORT” staffed usually with “Trainees”!! The following list PROVES this OBSERVATION – reflecting you wasting time for BOTH OF US!

FAILURE TO AT LEAST ** TO PROVIDE A LINK** POINTING to the WRITTEN “ANCHOR” SECTION of the TECH SUPPORT MANUAL! OR CAN YOU NOT DO THAT?
IT IS NOT YOUR JOB to COUNSEL every customer’s right to give “on the side” “FEEDBACK" to be SIMPLY FILED! As I stated, it is not being offered to customers, elsewhere that I could find.
IT IS ALSO NOT PERTINANT TO KNOW YOUR LACK OF COMPUTING experience. It would be considered possibly, as conversation >>> IF AN ANSWER TO THE ISSUE had been provided. Instead, not even a hint was provided, TO ONLY FRUSTRATE FURTHER!’. DO NOT BOTHER RESPOND. I won't be wasting more of MY TIME!
…Yasmin, you really think people can't read? Why would you waste providing a link to "a thread". Again, not even helpful. Besides, Google answered in ONE SENTENCE within the "computing context" the term "Anchor" you might "bite the bullet" and look that up yourself in your own manual …. no "threads"! Check the manual, you are to know, so as to correctly provide direction to customers.

@Catherine A Dean Please accept my thanks for your gracious reply to my admittedly poor attempt at assisting. I will strive to do better in the future.
First, I hope this doesn’t post twice, with one being unfinished. For some reason, my page refreshed multiple times. It’s been a day.
Secondly, my answer to what “anchors” do is this: It allows you to connect a part of a book (or whatever document you are looking at in Logos) to a specific note, so when you go back to look at the book, you can see what you wrote before. It also allows you to interconnect several different books/documents/sources to one note. This may be an oversimplification, but it’s’ how I view it in my mind.
Lastly, @Catherine A Dean, the way I learned how to use Logos was using it to study the Bible and a lot of pointing and clicking, letting curiosity take over. Then, I eventually went on to some of the training videos (and here - scrolling down to the on-demand videos), YouTube, but mostly, I went here, to the user forums. There have been many times where I have, as well as others, asked simple questions born from being new to the program. And, after over a decade of using the software, I still sometimes ask questions which end up having simple answers.
I sincerely hope you can learn how to use it and put some of the energy you have put towards your posting to learning to use Logos. We, the forums, would love to be able to help you learn how to use Logos so you can maximize your studying of the Scriptures, just as you did with WordSearch.
