Where is the back button?

I would like to know where the button is when you have jumped ahead in the book you are in and want to go back where you just were.
Like for instance if you are on table of contents page and you click on chapter 3 to take a look but now you wish to go back the toc.

The trouble with the back arrow is that it does not brings you back to the place where you just were, but rather to the beginning of a previous chapter. I don't see any way to change this.
