CRITICAL: Add Custom Sizing/Positioning for Background Images (Like Foreground Images)

Hi guys, I've been a Proclaim fan since 2011 (shortly after release), rolled it out & drove a production team (Northminster) with its advanced features for 5 years, and have recommended it to many churches since.

But since streaming became standard I keep hitting one major snag: livestreaming. And I'm sadly hitting that again right now for a church that dislikes ProPresenter, but feels trapped.

The Problem: While Proclaim rocks for mixing lyrics over camera, it still can't do usable thumbnail over camera (picture in picture) for imported sermon slides. And all for want of any basic custom-sizing and positioning.

  • Foreground images DO have that - screenshot:

  • But background images (like imported PowerPoints) only have "Fit" options" - screenshot:

During the Covid church AV panic, Proclaim's howtos helped work around this gap by using OBS. While a good temporary band-aid, it's weird that the limitation persists. Those howtos now sadly come off more like abdication.
Even once painstakingly setup and usable, using OBS to switch between lyrics and PiP scenes demands either a separate computer+volunteer, or requires the graphics operator (already maxed out on attention) to manage additional monitors and scene switching in a separate program. That difficulty badly contrasts Proclaim's niche of all-in-one, easy and intuitive.

The Solution is Simple: Under "Background > Image Position", add a "Custom" option. Once chosen, it should enable the existing bounding box controls for the background. (If you wanted to get fancy, you could also let us save presets like the Styles menu, but that could come later.)

Why Act Now? (Easy Win, High Impact): This isn't a new feature: the code for bounding boxes already exists for foreground images. Implementing this just means reusing that code, and this will help you & us:

  • Reduce System Complexity: Easier setup and fewer moving parts to go wrong.
  • Simplify Workflow: Reduce the juggling burden for volunteer operators.
  • Boost Value: Make Proclaim a more capable, integrated solution for live production needs.
  • Retain/Attract Users: Stop driving would-be Proclaim lovers to competitors who have this built-in.

Small change, big benefits. Please consider, ask if you have questions or want a screenshare demo.

I'd appreciate you setting our expectations regardless, thanks!

FYI, just remembered this was already requested in 2013, and Logos' response was "We have spec for this and it will likely be part of the customization overhaul… Months not week (but not years :))."

Thanks for the detailed request! I think what you are saying makes a lot of sense. Would be really neat too to multi-select sermon slides imported from PowerPoint, click on the alt-content tab and position the background in a PIP layout!

I’ll see what I can do; we are already years late 😬
