Seriously, @Jason Stone (Logos) this has moved from a distraction to an annoyance. Is there any way we can either individually keep these things out of our feed, or even better, have them in their own little section that we can make invisible or move off-screen? This is not a wiki…we have one of those. It's not a user manual (we've never had one of those, LOL). The content at the top of the stack should not be putrid.

The number of pinned and repeat Zombie threads make finding new discussions, questions, etc. a hassle that it shouldn't be. I respectfully suggest threads no longer be pinned…let them live or die on their own. If people discuss them, fine; if not, they should not be at the top of the thread list.

My two euros…worth what you paid for it. But these forums could be better, IMO, with a couple simple changes to keep the content recent/fresh.

@Doc B, another note worth mentioning that just came to mind is that any individual member can Dismiss an announcement from their recent post list, by selecting the three dots followed by Dismiss.

@Jason Stone (Logos) a screenshot is hard because the stuff scatters. Do you click on some of the threads there and find one from 2011? Or 2014, etc.? Those are the Zombie threads, often resurrected by someone asking a question that is not really relevant to the old thread but which should have been put into a new thread (for their own benefit).

The 'Dismiss' option is new info to me, so I gave it a try. Once again, just like 'Mute,' the Princess Bride meme jumps into my head because the way y'all define a word is not how I define a word. Here's an example-

That's a 'dismissed' thread, as you can see. Yet there it is, still near the top of my thread list. To me, 'dismiss' means, "gone, finished, over with, the-heck-out-of-Dodge, hit the road jack and don't come 'round here no mo no mo". (If you sing that as you read it, it's more entertaining.) What 'dismissed' absolutely does not mean is, "still right there in the thread stack." 😕

Several of the other threads did move off the top…it remains to be seen if they are soon back at the head of the class, blocking my view of the cute girl at the front of the class (or the teacher if you're a Van Halen fan).

We have been considering closing threads to new comments if the thread is X years old (5, 7, 10 years old?), only if the post thread has not had any activity whatsoever on them. That is still under consideration and it may solve this "zombie" effect that you speak of!

I like this idea and think it would help with dead threads.

I think even a simple notice might work without a full lock: "The last activity on this thread was x years ago. Would you like to start a new discussion instead?" I think many of the zombie threads are just accidental.
