How do you use it? Sermon Assistant 💡

I’m testing Sermon Assistant in Sermon Builder—Outlines, Illustrations, Applications, and Questions. It’s fast idea-gen with audience/tone controls and “Insert/Copy/More results” built in. Helpful, but it still needs review and editing by the pastor.

Quick prompts I’m trying:

Outlines: passage + theme, 3–5 points
Illustrations/Applications: ≤150 chars, set situation + audience
Questions: after drafting, then style as prompts/handouts

I don't use it a lot, as I tend to draw on my experiences or things I have read for illustrations… but occasionally when I draw a blank, it can be useful for an illustration.

I also find the questions cause me to think through my message a bit more. It becomes a bit of a sounding board!

Truth….. I started looking at sermon assistant just shortly. I find the concept interesting, but somewhat pointed in the declarations it makes. For example, I did a Sermon on The Church Jesus Built. I thought, let's see what Sermon Assistant comes up with…. so I gave it Matthew 16:18 and said "go baby go". What Sermon Assistant did was point more to "faith in Christ" or faith having to do with Christ, instead of the church Jesus built.

So, I said…."Ho hum, cancel that!" and built my own sermon.

But like I said, I do find the concept interesting. Just gotta watch out for the "biases" that Sermon Assistant" is wired into. lol 😎
