Logos App Update?
Anyone have an idea what the timeline is for updates to the Logos app? I know for the Mac, the alpha update comes out every two weeks on Monday. I'm getting updates for apps from Logos' competition and for e-reader apps. Would be nice to know if there is a regularly scheduled release time frame for the Logos app. Thanks.

We are working on the next version of the iPhone app and will release it when it's ready (probably more than a week, less than a month). There is not a regular release schedule for releases.

Dave, knowing that Apple announced new OS for iPhone which should have multitasking feature, is your new version of Logos release going to be reflecting this fact? Or it will be more in the future?

Unless I am wrong, don't be fooled by the use of the words multi-tasking when it comes to the iOS 4. From what I can gather it does not multi-task apps, work in more than one app at a time, but task switches. In other words sets a previous app aside, freezing it's data, while you work in another app allowing you to seamlessly move between apps without losing anything but it does not allow simultaneous work flow.

Not completely true. Apple is exposing APIs that will enable certain functionality for multi-tasking. For example a properly written app (Pandora is an example given by Apple) will be permitted to continue playing music while you work in another app. Skype and GPS apps are other examples of apps that will be able to run in the background. For other apps the main advantage will be that the can truly maintain state. In the current version of the iPhone OS, it's up to the developer to remember and record what you were last doing and where you were before switching apps.

Task switching would be very helpful in Logos. I'd love to be able to have a commentary and a Bible opened at the same time and seamlessly switch back and forth .

Any chance of getting some teaser shots like the Mac Devs throw out? Would be nice to know what is coming down the road. I look forward to this App becoming world class.

I'm sure there's other places to ask for this, but a 'download all' or a filtered 'download all' button (ie all TOTC) would be great, at some point, as well as maybe being able to access footnotes. But I'm guessing those might require a lot of additional code.
I love having all the resources accessible on the app, though, with its current functionality. Thanks for all your hard work!

I believe that the iOS multitasking will allow for the "appearance" of multitasking as most people understand it, especially for those apps re-written to take advantage of it. For example, Logos could continue a search in the background while you go off and check email or use Safari.
I've been running the GM of iOS 4 for a few days now (I'm in the Apple iPhone developer program) and really like the multitasking interface. I think that Apple is exactly right that most people do not actually want their apps to multitask (continue to change state in the background while not the on-screen app) both for battery and usability reasons. The few apps in this pre-release that support multitasking (Mail, Safari, and other Apple apps) work very nicely and just as you'd expect (Mail continues to check while you go work on another app).It's pretty ingenious, actually.
I'm liking it.
