Hihghlights made by someone else visible, 46.0.312

This is something I am not sure yet. Others may have to watch this, too. Some days ago I began to feel that I can see highlights made by not me. I cannot be sure yet: my memory is not reliable. They seem to be highlights made by me (No notes, Solid colors), but the contents/subjects are such I don't usually highlight. Some years ago it was possible to switch off the community highlights, but I cannot find such a button now.

These may be due to having popular highlighting enabled - you can toggle this in the Emphasize menu in the Formatting tab as outlined here

I could not find the selection in the new interface yesterday, and I think I had heard that popular highlighting was phased out. Therefore I thought there could be bug.

Sometimes when I swipe on a book in the mobile app, it will highlight the random text I swiped on. I don't always notice this until I am looking at the book in the desktop app later and I wonder, "why did I highlight this?" This may not be the issue for you, but it is worth bearing in mind if the unexpected highlights show up in your own Notes/Highlights.
