Logos version 46.0 (46.0.319) is now available!

The Logos Bible Study application version 46.0 is now available to all users.

To immediately update to the current stable version, enter Update Now into the command box. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it is scheduled to check for updates.

What a compliment this is to Logos software. All of the latest features leverage the library I own and deepen research.

Can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong? From what I've tested, the new Study Assistant tool can only reference a specific book that I name and says that it cannot do comparisons with other authors.

I really like the layout of some of these SA responses (outline, bullet format).

Can we request the Summary / Summarize feature also use an outline/bullet format instead of a paragraph format?

Thanks, @Michelle ! List formatting was one of the more recent additions to Study Assistant, so there might be a bug with mixed list types like this. I'll report it to the team.

@Adam Borries (Logos) I asked the Study Assistant: "Verse 13 seems to make no sense—he remains faithful. Explain?" in dealing with 2 Tim. 2:13. But it didn't matter what I asked, it resourced none of the critically important books in my library—commentaries on 2 Tim..

I asked this question: "So how does “Your books” differ (from "All Books)"?"
I got this response:

When I refer to “your books,” I am talking about **the specific collection of resources that you own and have in your personal Logos Bible Software library. This includes all the commentaries, lexicons, theological works, and other resources you have purchased or acquired within your Logos account.

The key difference is:

”My books” (the AI’s library): This is the curated, general library of biblical and theological content that I, as the AI, have access to. It’s a broad collection, but it’s not your specific, personalized library.
”Your books” (your personal Logos library): This is your unique collection of resources within your Logos software.

I, as the AI, do not have direct access to your personal Logos library. This means I cannot:

See which specific books you own.
Read the content of your individual books.
Utilize your personal rankings, notes, or highlights.
Perform searches or comparisons within your specific owned content.

That’s why, when you ask me to compare authors like Yarbrough, Kelly, Mounce, Knight, Towner, or Stott, I can only draw from the general knowledge I have about their works (if they are part of my curated library) or search for specific authors if they are included in my general access. I cannot open your copy of Mounce’s commentary and read it to answer your question.

To explore your own library content, you would use the Library tool or other features like the Passage Guide within your Logos Bible Software."

Now I hope you can see why I'm puzzled! Firstly, "All books" and "Your books" is what is stated on the Study Assistant. I am unaware of "My books" that the AI uses. The issue is that I have set the parameter to "Your books" which should access my Library, but it seems to only access "My books"—the AI's books. I have even clicked on the links and they are books I don't own. I had it set to "Your books" meaning my collection but, perhaps, there is something preventing it from accessing them properly.

Thanks, @David R. McAllan. I'm still not clear on what your first question in that chat conversation was, but this response strikes me as the AI spouting nonsense to provide a justification for it's previous answer. I'm not the AI expert, though, so I'll ask the team to take a look as well.

In the meantime, I'm curious of you get any better results by starting a new chat, and reformulating your question.

The AI has its own context as "My Books" are our "All books". It also states something useful in that it accesses my books as a collection within the AI's library.
Using Your books I asked your question as "2 Tim. 2:13 seems to make no sense—he remains faithful. Explain?" and rephrased as "Explain 2 Tim 2:13 when it says "he remains faithful"". The responses were very similar and referenced the same three books that I own i.e. in my library. I have not known it reference books outside my library when using Your books.

So I used the first/your Q as a Smart Books Search with the same Your books. The Synopsis was similar but more technical as it used the Louw-Nida Greek English Lexicon based on Semantic Domains for an apt "linguistic" comment.

The only Commentary used came from Study Assistant. When I wanted my top commentaries I used Smart Books Search with a filter (more restrictive than my "top" collection) and the response was appropriately conditioned.

Anyone else unable to get Logos v46 to run on Win11? It starts, but crashes shortly after opening the main window. If I hold down CTRL when launching it, I am able to work in Offline mode. iOS apps work fine. I'm updating the app on my Win10 PC to see if Logos v46 also crashes on it.

UPDATE: Win10PC Logos v46 seems to be fine. Win11PC Logos just keeps crashing after it updated.

Might be worth trying if not already :

Restart the whole PC (cache issues).
Check if any antivirus block something from Logos.

This is like asking if anyone else is unable to start their Ford '24 model car, because their problem wouldn't be the same problem! If you supply some other information we could help.

@Dave Hooton Thanks for the link. After rebooting, the app tries to open to my offline content then still crashes. I have emailed customer service with the info per your link.
