Daniel Block explores the relationship between ancient Near Eastern nations and their respective deities. Block demonstrates how this relationship was expressed in everyday life, national identity, and history. Consequently, Israel’s theocratic culture is illuminated in comparison to other Near Eastern cultures.

I am now hooked to it.. it is very detailed and supports the "sons of God"

I read it. He slides all over the OT, disregarding development (which he admits). But the extra-Biblical discussion is good.

I'm not a big fan of Unseen etc. At the end of the day, speculation as always, when you're thousands of years distant.

I am impressed with the use of god(s) and empire (Akkadian > Assyrian), and the formation of large armies.
