Linux for Logos? I really like the idea.

After being hacked - severely, and having what was termed "excellent protection" I am ending my 4 decade "affair" with Microsoft. I started out my engineering career with Apple and that relationship tarnished very quickly.

Both these operating systems are targets for hackers, and both are excessively costly to maintain.

Therefor, I am planning to switch all of my machines but one to Linux. The platform is solid, there is little or no hidden spyware and there is enough production wear out there to satisfy any user. One does not have to be a technical wizard to work within the Linux operating system.

At this point I am forced to hang on to one Microsoft based system so I can use Logos. I hope - and pray - that Logos and Linux will learn to play together. It should be beneficial to all of us who write, preach or otherwise depend on this truly superb Bible software!!

I don't see Logos developing a native app for Linux at the moment. Even though there are Linux enthusiasts on here, it would be a major undertaking to develop and provide support for Linux, and Logos likely would not recoup enough ROI to make it worth the effort.

With that said, there are a couple of options:

The Logos Web App runs on Linux well. I used it during my time on Linux.
There are user-driven efforts to run Logos on WINE/CrossOver on Linux. I forgot what thread it is on with the new community, but you should be able to dig it up here: https://community.logos.com/search?domain=all_content&query=Linux&page=2&scope=site&source=community Someone might be able to take you to the direct link. It's been years since I tried it, but Logos rain decently on it when I tried it (there were a few areas that causes Logos to crash, such as some of the Bible analysis features). It might have improved by now. You can take it for a spin and see how it goes.
You could move Windows to a Virtual Machine on Linux. It might be a little more isolated than running a bare metal Windows machine.

I agree with what I heard @Rick Mansfield (Logos) say about Linux years ago. I like the idea of Linux (I personally even tried using it as my daily driver for about six months), but like Rick, I hit enough brick walls trying it where I settled back on a Mac as my daily driver, then I keep a Windows Virtual Machine on the side for my few Windows apps.

However, I may be getting a chance to play more with Linux in general at least on some virtual machines. I may be doing some cybersecurity work coming up, and they all run on Linux as their daily drivers, so while I won't run out and invest in another Linux machine, I may get to have some fun with UTM on my Mac coming up.
