I am wondering what it means legacy edition Logos does not sale, Logos 10 gold etc.
Do we have to purchase subscriptions now?
John Duran
No, you don't need to purchase a subscription.
You can, for various good reasons. But Logos offers the 'legacy' version for those of us who don't need the newest.
It's their guarantee of a free app 'forever' (as they call it). And they update it constantly. Free.
You don’t have to subscribe to have access to your books and a fully functioning software, but you can for some new features and continuous updates. ‘Legacy’ just means the free, non‑subscription Logos app that Faithlife keeps updating. You can still buy books and packages outright (like Logos 10/Gold, etc.), and you can also choose a subscription if you want extra features or content. Legacy is Logos’ way of guaranteeing a free, always‑updated app without requiring a subscription.
I purchased Logos 9 Academic Professional back in 2020. I then purchased the Logos 10 Full Feature Upgrade in 2023. Does the “Legacy Edition” still have all resources and features that I paid for? What is going on?
I would like to say my updates to my Logos 9 legacy 10 features are great!! I Have learned so much and at a faster pace than my fellow brothers who do not have this program.
I do wish they had the same program/App.
I will be purchasing some products books soon. 😁
Yes, everything you have purchased in the past, you still have access to. While you won't have access to some new features that were released after Logos 10, you will always get free basic updates and occasionally even improvements.
Thanks!
I've spent literally thousands of dollars on Logos over 30 years - starting with Logos 2.1 (or 2.0 - I'm not sure).
I HATE subscriptions. I want to own my resources. I'm afraid when I open the app and see it is called "Logos LEGACY Edition" that the promise Logos made to me for so many years is being set up to be broken; that eventually I'll lose access to my books if I don't pay them a monthly fee.
For that reason, I hesitate to buy any more resources. If they do require a monthly fee, as a matter of principle I will refuse. It will feel like going back to the dark ages to lose access to my tools, but I'd rather do that than give them another dollar in that scenario.
They are still making that promise and there has been no indication whatsoever that they might break it.
No one is taking your resources or making you subscribe. There is a free version that you can utilize with all your purchased resources and features that came from L10 and prior.
I highly recommend that Logos makes the subscriptions optional. They should allow us to choose between subscribing and buying the features of the program.
As much as I agree, not trying to be excessively snarky, but not much to buy. That may be by design I suppose.
I am trying out the subscription right now for 30 days free trial, after the 30 days i can purchase a subscription for $129 dollars for the year. I wish it was cheaper, like $75 dollars for the year, I can afford that price. I am on a fixed income.
I can understand that. The Smart Search and Study Assistant are pretty helpful features. These will only improve as time goes on. I find them to be helpful, not perfect. I think it provides a good springboard into your own study.
@John Duran What tier are you trying?
I have Logos 9 with 10 features, but I have bought many books and I came over with wordsearch so i have those books as well, when Logos bought them. I am in the middle of a trial when you click on my account, it tells me Max!
I also use ChatGPT and that is been great for research, and grammar structures I am not very good at writing, but also a person must double check all the research, a person receives. I am a paralegal, and IT professional by trade, I am retired now, so I always double check all my research. I love reading the Word of God, I am learning something new or did not see the last time I read, the scriptures, I read daily. Question I have some differences in scripture positions - who would be willing to discuss these different positions with me, everything is scripture supported.

I am an old man in my 90s and a Newbie to the Forum. I am a registered owner of Logos 8.17 (Desktop Mac Version) on an older iMac (MacOS 11.7.10 which cannot be upgraded) but have not used it in a long time. I have been using a Bible web site but find it insufficient for my needs so I want to return to using Logos. Because…
