AI vs Non-AI Features in Logos' Roadmap

Many of the new features Logos has rolled out since transitioning to the subscription model has focused on AI.

So far, I have been overall pleased with Logos' implementation of AI: Smart Search has been immensely useful to me, as well as I'm enjoying Study Assistant as I try it. Some of the other additions of AI have been useful to others on here as well (some I've used a little less since I'm not a pastor).

However, I'm curious to what is Logos' focus/emphasis on AI versus non-AI features as it continues to develop its feature roadmap moving forward. How much is Logos going to "depend" on AI versus non-AI features moving forward.

This is not an attempt to downplay or throw a bucket of cold water on what Logos has done with AI so far. Again, I believe Logos has been off to a good start here.

I am simply curious as to how much of a place AI vs non-AI is going to be utilized in our Bible studies using Logos as Logos continues to further shape new features across the Bible study platform.

personally I don’t really care what they do with logos in the future, since I will never be able to own it anyway.

as far as the AI portion of Logos, I am just now beginning to try it out. But I am getting much better results with ChatGPT that I am with logos.

Well, you're stuck. You can't lose your L10 discount, right? But you're left with a hobbled AI. Pay up!

My guess judging from FL staff comments, is 2026 is catch up on conventional Logos … meet the Oct '26 deadline.

Most of the structural work - reworking Factbook, Dynamic toolbar, New Tab is non-ai and for the user is more we will see future benefit in improved maintenance.

All of which is to say we are seeing a steady stream of work on non-AI features all of which point towards a simplification/unification of features in support of expanding features to other platforms and standardizing implementation. I expect a couple of years with that focus … but would love to be proven wrong and see some new, badly needed non-AI features.

I’d love to see the web app improved to a point where we have total feature parity - I think it would force the developers to improve (simplify) the gui overall. When I see the gui of pure web apps like biblearc, I am amazed!

Now that you mention it, @Stephen Otto, I wonder how much parity is on the roadmap. There's always effort in that direction, but there are always things that are strangely left behind. For example (but for me, it's a very old and very important example) the Library feature on mobile (at least I know it is on Android) carries only a hint of the capabilities available on the desktop app.

I hope all of those features are included in the fallback license.

It's a shame Logos has never bothered to take five minutes to create a list like that.

All we got was a list of what we don't get.

Now for my Christmas list :-)

I'd love to see a the full Logos app for iPad as that is one thing making me hesitate on a purchase that just gets me the iPhone version.

Next, I'd like to see enhancements and improvements of the current non-AI tools Logos has already created.

And definitely some new things with original language and research tools.

Just my two cents.

I don’t think we’ll see major changes to mobile apps anytime soon - I think what’s more likely is incremental improvements to the web app which can be used across platforms.
