Hello everyone, so as I've listened to various podcasts and been reading up on Artificial Intelligence to learn more, one comment that keeps coming up is this concern (and it is coming up from people who have been involved in the development of AI over the last 50 years!): AI may be developing its "intelligence" faster than we can control it. Of course, this is a legitimate concern: a dog, for instance, might be highly intelligent, but the fact is that she is still on the end of a leash. See what I mean?
I am always reminded of what should have been an Oscar-winning line in Star Trek 6: "Let us define progress to mean that just because we CAN do a thing, it does not follow that we SHOULD do that thing." The human propensity for acting first and asking questions later is well established, is it not?
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying stop everything here or anything. I have already started to benefit from the AI used in Logos, so I am just asking how we continue to develop it safely.
Sooooo Faithlife, answer me this: what are you doing to prevent the "faster than we can control it" aspect of AI development? And of course, all community thoughts are welcome as well.
Thanks!
Okay, back to my Bible Study - I was in 2 Samuel 14, writing down my keyword lists, when I was suddenly interrupted by that thought , LOL!
