How can I not lose my place glancing between Bible versions?

I find the "cross-highlighting" super helpful. (Since I don't remember what Logos terminology is with this, I mean when I hover over a word and that word and all words in all open Bibles which match that word are also temporarily highlighted, since the word is the same).

So anyway, if I have multiple versions open, I really like this since it helps me quickly find my place in the text jumping back and forth between versions. That said, I have a PB which is a Bible, but the words are different enough that the "cross highlighting" doesn't work, which makes it really hard to find my place when I am looking between the published Bible version and my PB.

The only idea I have is literally highlighting random words in the PB and published Bible in order to keep track of the location in the text, but the concern I have (apart from this being time consuming), is that I periodically upload new versions of the PB where some words have been changed, and so when I do that, it would destroy highlighting in all the highlights I made and then I would be back at the start not being able to keep my place in the text.

Does anyone have any ideas regarding how to not lose my place when glancing between versions and a PB?

What I do (not recommending), is adjust the tile sizes (usually verticals) to match the bad-boy up to my reference volume. I do this all the time, where no index etc on the bad-boy.

I haven't ever tried: highlighting PBs?

If I am understanding you correctly, what you are trying to achieve, the corresponding words feature requires the Bibles in question to have a reverse interlinear. As PB’s don’t have a reverse interlinear and you can’t create on for them I don’t believe what you are wanting to do will work.

Oh, you probably do the same. Below I have a versified Bible (LSV), and then two paragraphed old Bibles (Sawyers and Tyndale). I set the fonts equal, and then adjust the vertical borders, so the area of text is even looking across. Then, for the specific section of interest, I select each for visual eye-bouncing. This happens a lot, with the Fathers.

Hi @Simon’s Brother, just to be clear, I understand that translations without a reverse interlinear can't do the corresponding words feature (yes, thank you for clarifying the terminology, that is what I meant), and that is a ok. However, my issue is that I am having a hard time finding my place.

To show the issue, I will list the ESV and NIV which are tagged, and the Geneva which is not, which we can pretend is my PB.

If I am reading the NIV and I am also making eye contact with someone in a meeting, if I want to check the ESV I can do so in a split second following whatever word I am hovering over. But if I want to check the Geneva, it takes several seconds since I need to scan the text if I need to look up or down for the verse until I find it, and I don't have "seconds" in a meeting to find a verse.

So I was thinking in this instance to just highlight random words in my PB to act as place indicators, like highlight the first word of every other verse in alternating colors, so I know that a yellow highlight means even verses, and a blue highlight means odd verses, or something like that. That would be time consuming, but worth doing to some degree since not being able to find my place is interfering with my class.

However, since I periodically update my PB, when I update it all the verse indicator highlights I did would be lost. Is this correct? If so, is there any way to quickly recognize what verse I am in? I don't even need it to show the same word in the verse, I just need some sort of indication as a visual cue of what verse I am in.

Hi @DMB, sorry I didn't see your screenshot until now. I would love to do what you did in your screenshot. That would be so nice, but I literally can't because of something I would call a bug with Logos notes. I have my notes open to the right, but when I click on a note (even if it is the same notebook), instead of recycling my dedicated note section, Logos opens the note in a new pane, even though it is the same notebook, and it squashes my columns to make the columns super narrow. I have gotten used to widening the column in class so I can at least read it (since the extra notebook makes the column I am reading only 2 words wide), but then it is impossible to get it lined up again in the moment to look like your screenshot.

Back in the day, we used our fingers on the page. A small bookmark worked well, also.
