I use Word, but same is truth for Google Docs, I get the result from Smart Search and now also Study Assistant with currently only 2-4 references. Then I usually copy and paste to the Word alongside my other research. The foot note number never are pasted in a format recognised by Word so they need to be manually edited. It all seems so 1990 software like to me - where you get about 80% of what you need and have to develop work arounds. It would save users time and error if the software did this automatically. Can this simple issue be fixed? If so, when?
A related question is, will these AI tools one day produce a more informed (and more referenced) response) other than the short 2-4 reference thing? If so, the problem of formatting issues will be more time consuming. But the answers to my questions maybe more satisfying. Sometimes, the answers are far less helpful than, say, Wikipedia. Given the huge, specialise library, I expect it has to improve over such non-specific alternatives.
