Logos Bible Reading Plan

This year, after creating another Reading plan, I notice there is no notification coming up if I've missed a day. Can someone please tell me if there's a setting that I've missed or is this the new normal with no notifications.

Also, I see no Reading Plan listing in Documents but I got this one from clicking on the "New" in there. I had also thought that the Reading Plan was listed in the main page of Documents without going to the New. Am I correct?

Do you mean the Behind indicator on the Reading Plan card on the Dashboard or something else?

Yes, Reading Plans are Documents and should appear in the Docs screen.

Try filtering the Docs screen by Reading Plan and check if it appears there.

Name of the Reading Plan is "Old Testament Reading" -

Not from a new Logos account. Had this for years. Any year up to this point, I would see a notice if I were behind but nothing is showing here.

And thats what's confusing me - it is only showing you have three documents in total. After using the account for years I would expect many more than that.

Are you sure you haven't got a different Logos account selected in some way?

It's not the amount of Documents I have that concerns me, but that on the Dashboard, it doesn't show if one is behind in the Reading plan when it has up to this year. But maybe you could explain why you thought I should have more documents and what you mean exactly by documents. Obviously, I'm missing something.

This is the types of things I see in that screen:

So any Visual Filters, Notebooks, Passage Lists, Clippings, Collections, etc you have created all the time you have been using Logos should appear here. And I would be surprised to just see the three you show in an account that has been used for many years.

It's possible of course but I just find it unlikely.

And if you do have those types of documents I think it's important we understand why those are missing from the Docs screen before trying to work out why the particular Reading Plan you are missing isn't there

Thank you so much, Graham, for your reply. But I'm still buffaloed as to why on the Dashboard, it doesn't give me a notice that I am behind a day or two in the Reading plan. Obviously, there's some small thing I'm missing, so once again, I'm dependant upon yourself to point out what I'm missing.

Here's a picture of the Documents when clicking on New on the far right at the top and thus, gives me a list what probably should be there. Does this look normal?

The dropdown looks normal. The thing I'm struggling with is that there are only three documents showing.

Assuming you have previously used / created notes / visual filters / clippings / passage lists etc they should show there as well.

(Incidentally, if you use the second icon at the bottom of the reply box to insert screenshots they appear inline which makes it easier to read)

I've never created notes / visual filters / clippings / passage lists etc. It's not the way I use Logos. Here's a picture of my Dashboard. If I were behind in my reading, I think its "behind" or catch up" that shows under the "Old Testament reading." I figure it's something simple I'm overlooking or done in creating the Reading Plan.

The screenshot of your dashboard shows you have a Layout called Old Testament Reading but doesn't show a reading plan of that name.

That, along with the fact that there is no reading plan of that name showing in the Docs menu suggests you haven't actually created the reading plan yet - just a layout for it.

Is that at all possible?

That is indeed possible, Graham. When creating what I have on the Dashboard for a Reading Plan, I went into Documents, clicked on New and then clicked on Reading Plan. I can't honestly remember which of the three I chose, but direct me as to which I should have chosen or in this case, should choose to create the actual reading plan instead of a layout.

Either one of those would have created a reading plan but that doesn’t explain why one isn’t showing on the dashboard but a layout card is.
Why not try creating the reading plan again and see hat happens?

I've created this which looks similar to the last one. Since it looks no different than it did previously, I've got my doubts if a notification will come beneath the card if I'm a day behind. Give me your thoughts.

Can you detail the steps you are taking to create these? Again these are resulting in layouts and not reading plans being shown.

Which of the readng plan options are you selecting?

What happens if, as a test, you use the first option - selecting a predefined plan?

First, I go to Documents, then I click on "new" on the top left. Then I click on "Reading Plan" from the list given in the "New."

I find I have to use the second one in the list.

Clicking on "All passages" I choose the Old Testament

I click on the third one in the list for the OT.

Where it says "today", I click on January 1st then click on "Start" which happens to be covered by the calendar in this picture.

Closing that, I find now that I have two "Old Testament Reading" cards. Clicking on either of those, it brings me up to this:

But going to Documents, I see this:

Then opening Old Testament reading, I get this:

Then clicking in the right pane, I get this:

Now I want this saved and placed on my Dashboard as a Card. Opening that Card, here's what I now see:

That's coming about when I click on Reading plan in this:

Clicking on the Reading Plan places it on the Dashboard of course. Before this year, I would click on that and it would bring up the Reading Plan I had created with the commentaries / Dictionaries etc that I had saved. For some reason, it's not doing that now. Also in previous years, if I were a day or two behind, a notification would show up under that Card and inform me so.

Ok with that… if you're not confused by now, you're not paying attention. :-) Let me know what you think.

Did you change the name of the Reading Plan from Read KJV 1900 in one year to Old Testament Reading at some point? It looks like that is what has happened but I wanted to clarify.

How did you do this?

Clicking on the Reading Plan places it on the Dashboard of course.

I think you need to select a reading plan at this point. What card shows on your dashboard after you have done this?

To answer your questions: (1) I changed Read KJV 1900 in one year to Old Testament. I went into Layouts and did it from there, since it was the only way I could find to do it.

Question # 3: I saved that and put it on the Dashboard from within Layouts. You'll see the little + sign here over 1Thessalonians. Here's a picture.

Your fourth question I believe is also answered in the above picture. As to whether the notification will come up under "Old Testament" showing I'm behind is another question, unless you've got something up your sleeve.

I've got to say, I have never encountered this much problem creating the Reading Plan since I've had this product, and that is, 2010.

I think the problem is that you don't seem to be creating Reading Plan cards - just Layout cards (and it's not quite clear why this is the case).

When you get to this point in the flow you outlined above you can click in the current name of the Reading Plan to rename it

I'll rename it to Test Plan to avoid any confusion with any that already exist.

Now when you click the Start button, you will create the Reading Plan (and it should be visible in the Docs menu)

and it should also create a card of type Reading Plan on the dashboard

Please check and confirm before doing anything else.
