How to "emphasize shared words in LES and my default Bible"?

"It can be surprising when a NT quote from the OT doesn’t match the wording of the OT passage in our Bibles. Sometimes the quote better matches the Septuagint, which is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures. I like to use formatting tools in Logos to emphasize shared words in LES and my default Bible translation. That way, I can easily compare the NT and the OT passage it quotes from."

Sounds cool. How do you that, particularly with the linking between a NT and OT text? I tried Corresponding Words between Matthew 27:9 and LES Jeremiah 39, so I can click field and it highlights the various uses of that in both Matthew 27 and Jeremiah 39; however, that seems far less impressive than my imagination from what "L. K." described.

Not exactly sure about the example in the quote. Have you looked at the tool New Testament use of the Old Testament. It can be helpful, but it does not cross highlight between the NT and the OT.

Go to tools then type New Testament and you should see it,

I do have a layout for OT in NT that is a bit elaborate. It has the OT Quotes in the NT Bible harmonies on the upper left. Type in the verse you want to study then click on the NT verse and it will open the Greek NT upper right with multi view using the ESV and commentary on the OT in NT.

Click on the OT verse and it will open on the bottom right in the Hebrew text with the ESV, Lexham English Septuagint and the Logos LXX in multi view.

On the bottom left I have lexicons with "send hyperlinks here" selected. If I double click on a Greek word it opens the Greek lexicons and does have corresponding highlights to the Greek texts. Same with the double clicking on a Hebrew word.

The work still needs to be done as Logos is just a tool to assist.

Hope this gives you some ideas until the person you quoted describes their process.

I was just curious. If I did an LXX/interlinear with an NT/interlinear in series, could Emphasis/Corresponding work across the two?

Emphasis/corresponding worked on one (in this case LXX-Swete), but literally stopped working on the other.

At least best I can see 'no'.

@DMB Try adding a Greek lexicon LEH for example with corresponding highlighting and have send hyperlinks here selected. When you double click it should open the LEH to that lemma and then highlight in both LXX and NT if they share that lemma.

Thank you! I gave up, after noticing that one of the pair (eg NT) wouldn't do Emphasis/corresponding, period (if the other did). But your approach works.

1. IIUC, it should be available with any subscription

2. But what does series mean, and why is the lexicon needed?
  If series means separate panes (rather than View> Add parallel text), then I think that is what I described in my OP, sans lexicon. For both Bible and LES, I used Formatting> Emphasize> ☑ Corresponding Words
  ☑Same lemma
  ☑Same root
3. However, Corresponding Words is limited to one word at a time, whereas I 'd imagined (misunderstood?) that "L. K." was describing sounded more.
  Oh: the Hover mode is more efficient than Click, at least. In lieu of selecting a passage, I can at least run the mouse cursor over the passage. Hmm.

Pete, to be clear, my idea didn't pan out.

But, to the idea of 'series'. That describes a group of books, that you want to be conceptually treated as 'one big book'.

A good example is commentary sets you buy. If you go to your library, highlight a commentary volume (not open it), and then click on the Info button, you can scroll down and see the commentary's series name. All volumes in the set have that same name.

Being in the same series, Logos automatically switches volumes when you go from Gen 5, to Eph 3. As if it's one big book.

Logos adds icing on the cake. You can make a series (as if one book) using, for example, an LXX, and an NT. You just go to your library, find the 'Series' (usually blank), and make your own … maybe call the series, PetersBible!
