Writing Bible studies and workbooks

I have been strictly a 'paper' person for my studies up until now, relying on my physical Bible and printed commentaries to not only do personal studies but to help me create resources like sermon notes, Bible studies, and counseling workbooks. For those of you who have been using Logos for these purposes, what specific tools have been most helpful? What feature do you use most often? Being new to Logos, it seems a bit daunting - but I recognize this will be an invaluable tool as I seek to help others grow in Bible literacy and obedience.

Sandra, Logos has a wealth of tools to help you do research and writing. One advantage over paper is not only the ability to search and find what you are looking for quickly, but to copy and paste it into your favorite word processor. I do all my writing outside of Logos and this is often what I do.

When doing initial research I sometimes create a Clippings file. I copy information there and tag it. Later I may rearrange it according to the tags I've applied. (This is a bit slow and tedious, something Logos could work on.)

Another tool is the Notes tool. Using that I can cross reference material and leave note indicators in the original texts to remind me of linked material.

You can also make use of Visual Filters in Bibles to automatically highlight anything you discover in a search and want to later have access to.

I use Passage Lists to gather scriptures.

Depending on your level of subscription you may have access to Smart Search and Study Assistant, AI tools that can help unlock your resources further.

This just skims the surface of what you can do. I certainly recommend that you watch the tutorial videos that Logos offers. Click on the Training and Articles menu at the top of the Forum page.

This said, your ability in Logos is limited by the resources you own. The more you own (chosen wisely, of course) the broader your research can be.
