.NET updates

There were 2 .Net updates today from Windows Update. Is there anything particular we should watch for?
Logos 10 - OpenSuse Tumbleweed, Windows 11, Android 16 & Android 14

Not sure. I shelved them for my XP system after the last lot caused problems to L4. Just Google the web for potential issues.

Along with them was an optional synaptics update that has restored my ability to scroll--even in L4! It's optional, though, & I almost missed it. According to 2 other threads, some folks don't see it. But still others on Vista (incl me) & W7 are getting it, today... Blessings!

Thanks, Jack. Was that for .NET 3.5 SP1?

Please start a new thread titled Crash: .NET Update .... (as long as it starts with Crash:) so the developers will notice your problem. The Crash log was fine but the logos4.log was old so try to upload one that coincides with the Crash log (see Diagnostic Logging)

Well after that .NET update, Logos is running faster than ever. Windows move promptly, dropdowns populate quickly, and everything is smoother.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. It's glorious, I've never seen it run this fast before.

You are an optimist [:)] Well, I do not notice any change but also scrolling is not working yet, so may be I need to get some more updates. I have WIn 7 64bit. What update you are guys talking about? It just says there is nothing more for me. Scrolling is not working anyway.

I have four "high priority updates" for Windows XP related to .Net frameworks that come up when I check for Windows Updates. The most recent is 6/22/10 and relates to 3.5 SP1 and 2.0 SP2. The other three are dated 6/8/10.
Is it wise to just keep waiting for awhile (next XMAS [:) ] before downloading anything related to .Net framework to avoid crashes? I have .Net framework 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 all installed.

Yes, Melissa, I read that thread and the description of uninstalling all of .NET but did not know if it pertains to those who haven't done any of the downloads that caused some problems. Does it mean we are to uninstall .Net even if we haven't downloaded any of the updates and thus, have no problems? IOW, is that Microsoft's fix temporarily or will they issue an update that circumvents all of it? I really don't know what to do right now. Thanks for your help.

I would say if you do not have any problems, you don't need to follow those steps at this time. However, I don't recommend putting off Windows updates for an indefinite period, either, as you could be missing some important security patches. So you may want to allow updates, and if the .NET SP 2 is installed and causes a problem with Logos 4, you can follow through with the solution. I don't know whether Microsoft will pull that update for XP so they can fix it, or not.

Thanks, Melissa, for your input. They downloaded and installed fine, nary a hitch.

Ever since this latest .NET update, Logos 4 has been flying. I can't believe the difference it has made. I think 4.0d RC1 made a further improvement as well.

Sorry I haven't answered you sooner, but I just noticed your post. I remember .Net 3.5, but I do not remember the SP #. I'm not a Windows person, so I will need guidance to locate that info.

I don't know what I have done wrong but I tried all the updates, I installed the latest Synaptics from their web page, I have all the Windows NET updates, including the NET 3.5 one, and scrolling in Logos still does not work for me. I have Win7 64bit system, DELL XPS M1330 laptop. Any ideas?

Eureka! I just tried to reinstall Synaptics touchpad driver not as the first one from their web but the DELL version (I did not find it however under my notebook drivers - XPS M1330) and it works! Yes, my scrolling works like a charm. Great feeling after all that waiting.

Scrolling on my touchpad finally works in Lr after a driver update. I installed the latest update from microsoft earlier, but left the touchpad and graphics driver until I got back home.
One happy camper. Using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.
