For some reason which i cannot get my head around the PBI New Testament Studies Collection http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/5964 has been on the Pre-Pub page for a long time. One would have expected much interest in this resource to see it go into the development stage. I hope folk take a look at it & pre-order.
Thanks. I pre-ordered this product on 5/25/2007

Thanks for highlighting this, Ted, somehow I had completely missed this. I have duly added it to my preorder list.

I wish your generosity will extend towards me, some how I doubt it[:)]. That is if you can still remember how much I have on Pre-Pub.

I probably already have ordered almost everything you have on prepub. My prepub basket totals over $19K now! I wish I could extend my "generosity" (that's a nice euphemism for greed, there, Ted [:)]) even further, but my pocketbook won't let me.

Ha $19K, I bet not everything on Pre-Pub[;)]. Though I am seriously considering why I would want anything Coptic. Can't read the stuff, may just pass on that.

I had just looked at my pre-pub orders and thought, "How did I order so much?" Now, I feel positively frugal, maybe even tight. [8-|]

Nope, I see several others in this thread that were ordered longer ago than that. Here's the summary so far:
- Christianity in the British Isles Collection on 7/21/2006
- Perspectives on Christian Living collection on 7/27/2006
- PBI New Testament Studies Collection on 5/25/2007
- Lion Histories Series on 1/22/2008
- Journal of Biblical Literature on 6/13/2008
There are also some oldies that are under contract already but which people have been waiting a long time for:
- Oxford Latin Dictionary ordered as long ago as 7/22/2005
And the "under contract" one I've been waiting on the longest:
- The Harvard Classics and Fiction Collection ordered on 12/9/2008

I've added the first 3 to my pre-pubs; already had the Lion series ordered. Now that I know how much Rosie has in pre-pub, I don't feel bad about my $6K. [:P]

He's a Logos insider now. I don't know why he doesn't have the blue cross under his picture.
What really would help would be to have a spotlight on some of these languishing prepubs in the Logos blog. More people read that (through their Home Page) than read the forum regularly. Most of the people who read and respond to these forum threads trying to push one or another prepub over the top are already prepub junkies and have already ordered the ones in question. But we could reach a whole lot of other users who might not have considered these titles before if it went out as a blog post.
How 'bout it, Michael? Do you have any influence over blog content?

I ordered both "A Manual of Palestinian Aramaic Texts" and "Synopsis of the Greek Sources for the Hasmonean Period" on 8/13/2006. And the "Northwest Semitic Collection" on 9/28/2006. Finally, and most importantly, the "Gorgias Press Syriac Collection" on 4/19/2007. If I could only the Syriac Collection out of pre-pub I would be really happy.

Only when I write them myself...which I don't always have time to do.
But JBL will be going soon.
Rosie Perera said:But we could reach a whole lot of other users who might not have considered these titles before if it went out as a blog post.
Often times, titled forum discussions will get a prepub or community pricing title to go over the top too (since we've started talking about it, yesterday there have been a few more orders).
The challenge with JBL hasn't been lack of interest. Its the size -- 20,000 pages of content. That means high productions costs. Hermeneia was originally on prepub for something like $500 for less than 16,000 pages, if I remember correctly (before the 3 volumes were added). JBL is almost 3,000 more pages for 70% less.

i think maximizing the various "forums" (in the broad sense) is valuable (blog, homepage, forum). I think it would be interesting to know how many people (trolls!) read the "resource push posts" that have been made here for things like community pricing or other pre-pubs. I wonder if Logos could determine which users read those posts and then end up ordering the pre-pubs.
We saw how the increased exposure on the forums helped push resources like George Mueller over the top. I wonder if a sub-forum ("pre-publication news") would be valuable.
My own oldest pre-pub only goes back to 2009. Pretty much because I only really started taking advantage of pre-pubs around then, maybe 08. Before that, i was a pretty much a pre-pub ignoramus. But, that said, some of my pre-pubs have been in the offering for longer than my adding them, like the Lion History series, etc.
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

Just a point of Internet terminology: trolls are not people who read forums but never post (those are lurkers). Quite the contrary. Trolls are people who intentionally post inflammatory stuff in forums just to get people riled up. They thrive on that and have no other purpose for participating in the forum. We haven't had any trolls that I've been aware of on the Logos forums, for which I'm very grateful! The best thing to do about them if they do ever show up is to totally ignore them. But then there are always newbies who don't know that's the right strategy, and they take the bait. Then you end up with more experienced forum users coming in and telling the newbies "Don't feed the trolls." The Wikipedia article on trolls is an interesting read, telling about the history and etymology of the term in Internet lore.

That would make it too easy for people to ignore! [:)] I suppose we should allow people not to be bothered with such posts if they really don't want to read them, but the effect of catching people who weren't specifically out looking for pre-pubs is quite helpful. Also we already have such a proliferation of sub-forums that I'd resist adding more, unless the whole forum hierarchy is revamped to keep the top level from being so unwieldy. But then peole would never find the right forum to post in, and we'd be constantly directing them to post elsewhere.
