Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture books

I was just wondering if Logos planned on converting all 29 books in the series?  I have loved using the books in my school's library and would love to buy them through Logos for the search capabilities. Just wondering if I should start saving my money up! Huh?

Just wondering if I should start saving my money up!

I do not know if and when this will be available in LOGOS.  On the otherhand, do not let this stop you from saving money up - there will be something you want and unless you have saved money up, you will not be able to get it.

Well I definately always saving up to get certain books and news ones i know i will see and want BUT with special books and series i save purely for them.

I saw on the IVP website that it says "Use the fast and easy-to-use Libronix Digital Library System" and "Integrated with the Essential IVP Reference Collection and other Libronix titles".  Does that mean that if you buy the entire set through IVP that the CD's are able to be searched and used through the L3 or L4 versions for searching and use? I really confused now. lol

I have the first Logos set of this series. They are published by IVP not Logos but they are completely compatible with Logos 3 & Logos 4.

The complete 29 volumes will be released in Libronix format around September of this year (2010.)

Thank you so much. Is there any reason to wait till September when it goes on the Logos site if I can get it through IVP? Are there any benefits to waiting (cause if there are I can surely wait)?

The CD won't be available from anybody until September (if it stays on schedule.) I would like to see it on the Pre-Pub page with a price....[:)]

The product itself will be exactly the same. Notice IVP proudly touts the tech support will be through Logos.

I hope we see the other IVP sets come to Logos also.

Well then i am super excited and will be saving up for the later part of the year!  I am glad to see how Logos is getting their name around and more and more people i talk to on the college level are taking advantage of their awesome product!  Thanks Matthew!

Cool! Only I wonder when Logos's publishing partners will catch up with them and start releasing things in native L4 format. I suppose it'll have to be like this for some time into the future as long as there's a legacy L3 to keep supporting.

Nobody has told me this but I've been wondering for a while if all Logos 4.0 is produced in-house. The Zondervan titles are published by Zondervan but only available by download. Will there ever be any Version 3 CDs produced and packaged for retail sale? I just don't know. I am still caught between ordering everything in Version 3 format (on CD-Rom) or order evrything by download. I want to have Version 3 formatted resources on hard copy backup for the day when Logos servers no longer carry them.  I doubt I live to see that day but I wouldn't be much of a pack-rat if I didn't save them anyway. I've still got the original WinAmp. DR DOS, GEM desktop, Wordstar, Chi-Writer, Desq-View.................. I'm spiraling downward.

    Matthew,

This is great news! Any way you can tell us how you know this?  I've been interested in this series being completed on Logos for a while, along with the other similar series they are offering now and will offer in the future.

For those who don't know about those, here's a list of them:

    Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture

    Reformation Commentary on Scripture

    Ancient Christian Doctrine

    Ancient Christian Texts

I read the introduction of the first volume in the Ancient Christian Doctrine series, and the editor mentioned the future digitalization of the series, along with the other sets too, so maybe this is finally happening!

This is phenomenal news! I didn't realize the full series was even available in print format yet. The last time I came across any volumes of it in a Christian bookstore there were only one or two, and I was waiting and looking forward to when they'd do the whole thing. Then I haven't been checking back. It happened a lot more quickly than I'd expected.

The General Introduction to the series is also available online in PDF format: http://www.ivpress.com/title/exc/1470-I.pdf

Same here. Just last Summer they had long term projections for releasing the print volumes. Now, all of a sudden, eveything is available and the CD version is in process! WoW. If only everything worked so quickly. It is so good to be alive in this time of history!

No, I can't without violating my conscience.                                                    [6]     Easy to find if you go looking for it. [:$]

I highly recommend buying Libronix resources from Logos.com whenever possible. [A]

[I]  Now if only we can get a Pre-Pub up on Ancient Christian Commentary TODAY!  I'd like to place my upgrade order.

Found it, thanks to Todd up above!

Now, this is interesting. According to the IVP website, the price for all 29 volumes in Logos format will run about $308.  On the Logos website here, just 12 volumes are going for $379.95!

I assume the price will be adjusted accordingly when the complete set is released.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention though!  I love this series and the idea behind it, so this is very exciting news!

Yeah, Todd operates ...EDITED>>>>! [:#][:^)] Don't you just love the edit feature??

One is available now and the other next September. Give Logos a chance to post a Pre-Pub and then compare.

I like the idea too. Another similar product is in Community Pricing.

Check out  Catena Aurea: Commentary on the Four Gospels by Thomas Aquinas (8 Vols.) http://www.logos.com/communitypricing/details/5216  It is well worth the price!

    Logos 7 Collectors Edition

Hope it is much cheaper, it is $242.55 at Amazon on pre-order right now. And for those that prefer a down load, it will probably not be it is an IVP item that is boxed.

    Gregory,

Be careful.  That is not the Logos version on sale for $242.55.  At least the one I saw wasn't.  It was the Accordance Bible software version.  May want to double check that.

Never mind!  I just checked, and I think that both versions are available for $242.55.  I just had to hunt for the Logos version.  Sorry for any mixup I caused.

Be careful if you order that you get the right one.

Why does not Inter Varsity Press take off the VOL 1 of the ACCS, and just have the complete text?

Because I just bought the VOL 1 CDROM for  $270 at  ChristianBook.com and I just now realize that the complete set is coming out for only $240.

I only have 12 of the books out of the 29 I should have for $30 less.

All of this have been extremely distressing.

I called InterVarsity Press  and they said that LOGOS would sell me the download of the remaining commentaries for $140. But this is a rip off, because I could have only spent $240, not $270 + $140 which is a total of $430.

Hi, when you posted this same question yesterday on another thread, it was suggested you call Customer Service.  http://community.logos.com/forums/p/17633/144276.aspx#144276

This really is still your best option.

I also prefer to buy from logos since it makes future upgrades easier (works get counted in discounts for upgrades).  I also like the download feature as it makes installing on a new easier.  If this was available on Logos at anything close to the listed pre-pub price I would order today as well.

Check out  Catena Aurea: Commentary on the Four Gospels by Thomas Aquinas (8 Vols.) http://www.logos.com/communitypricing/details/5216  It is well worth the price!

Agreed, but it seems that this has been at %60 for a while.  I'd like to get books while I'm still young enough to read them  [^]

Reading through all these posts almost makes me want to believe that no one knew that the print editions were available by subscription? I've the entire ACC set for approximately $34-36 per volume over the years. If Logos does make them available, then I'll sell you my print editions to afford their DVD! [:P] heheh..... I'm now working on completing their nifty commentary set on the Nicene Creed. The recent one on the Holy Spirit dropped in just recently.

    God bless
