windows,mac and logos
I am unfamiliar with mac as an OS. Now that they are close to a beta I was wondering if the mac OS offers advantages over the windows OS as it applies to Logos. I know some are loyal for other reasons to mac but just as a tool to use Logos4 does it have an advantage? Also when logos goes to logos5 will the mac user wait longer for a functional app?

In my experience with Logos, the Mac community is "behind" the PC. I am sure that is because the PC is a much broader base of computers and they just do not ship that much "Mac" only. I do not know the ins and outs but it seems the Mac people can run a PC Logos with the software and such. Speaking to the "advantages" or disadvantages of Mac vs PC I would think there are none.
Now, having said what I did....I hope I have not stepped on the toes of Mac Users. I do not want to offend anyone here.

For Logos 4 specifically, Windows and Mac share same functional code base, including cross platform syncing.
Some User Interface items different. Apple always has a Menu Bar on top of screen - showing menus for active program. In contrast, Windows places menu in application window. Since Apple logo in top left screen corner, Windows default start button is in lower left corner (ongoing result from Apple suing Microsoft over Look and Feel decades ago).

Really a question for Bob Pritchett. Suspect partially depends on Logos sales and usage on Mac platform.

One would hope that with the programming capacity that Logos has now for OSX that Logos 5 would be launched simultaneously, but time will tell.

I think this is a very subjective matter. If a person prefers the Mac OS overall, then he will naturally think L4 runs better on the Mac. If for some strange reason {[8-|]}, another person should prefer Windows, then L4 works better under Windows for that person.
As Keep Smiling mentioned, take a trip to the Apple Store to observe and ask questions. If possible, find a Mac user who is also a Logos user and see the difference in the User Interface.
Windows users, please note the smiley above. That comment was tongue-in-cheek, although I have never understood how anyone can talk intelligibly with their tongue positioned there..

It should. Keep in mind that there was Libronix 1, 2, and 3 which in retrospect is called L3 because before that was the LLS. Why do I bring up this? Because, based on Logos' history it is likely that L5 will simply be a revision of L4's architecture, adding a bunch of functionality. So I trust that once the Mac version catches up to Windows that Logos will find a way to keep the product releases synchronized [:)] between the platforms.
I agree with the above posters that if you decide you prefer the Mac platform above Windows then Logos should hold you back from making the switch.

Several posters in Logos 4 Mac forum http://community.logos.com/forums/75.aspx currently use Alpha for daily sermon prep, reading, and research.
Thanks to Logos for impressive Mac Alpha progress every 2 weeks => looking forward to Beta [:D]
Likewise Thankful for Logos 4 cross platform library access: iMac, iPad, iPhone, and Windows [H]
Platform observations:
A Mac with Intel CPU can legally run Linux and some Windows versions (depends on license) in virtual machines with decent performance.
Several open source projects offer native Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux => FireFox, OpenOffice, FreeMind, Handbrake, Virtualbox, ...
Also, Apple offers iTunes, Safari, and Quicktime for Windows.
Note: while technically feasible, illegal to run Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware => violates Apple's Mac OS X license agreement.
In corporate workplace, Windows stil dominates desktop.
Choice depends on personal and collaboration needs. Know document sharing (e.g. PowerPoint) can be problematic between platforms.

No. Our Mac team is actually larger than the Windows Logos 4 team right now; we're playing catch up, but once we're "at parity" the goal is simultaneous releases on both platforms.
