Support for other Unicode Greek and Hebrew fonts
In my personal work, I have become a fan of a number of other freely available and excellent Unicode Greek and Hebrew fonts.
While Ezra Sil and SBL Hebrew are the two best mazoretic fonts, bar none, there are a number of fabulous GFS Greek fonts that would work perfectly with Logos 4.
In my papers, for example, I use GFS Porson. The Unicode text that I export or copy from Logos displays perfectly in all the GFS fonts I have tried. However, I cannot choose them within Logos.
Is there any possibility that, in the future, we will be able to choose arbitrary fonts in Logos for Greek and Hebrew? I cannot see any good reason to prohibit this. I understand that by hard-coding the Greek and Hebrew font choices, Logos is ensuring that only fonts which they have tested and blessed are available. But there really should be a way to override this.
In general, the font setup in Logos 4 needs a major overhaul. Not a priority today, of course. Let's just get feature complete and stable. But in the future, it would be nice if we could make the fonts in Logos more configurable and consistent.

I changed from Logos default Greek font and I have Gentium set as my default Greek font and it works just fine, except for some upper case display kerning problems which have been logged by the developers as a bug. It was my understanding that any Unicode font would work.

Nope. Just the ones that Logos allows in the list. I have a half dozen other fully pointed Unicode Greek fonts that I cannot choose, but that nevertheless work just fine if I copy and paste text into another program and apply them. I use Gentium as well since it is the most readable of the bundled fonts. The upper case kerning issue is only minorly annoying.

I just downloaded GFS Didot from the Greek Font Society website, installed it on my Mac via Font Book, then restarted Logos 4. I typed "Set greek font to gfs didot" and selected "Set greek font to gfs didot" then I opened NA27 and my font was set correctly.

I (think I) just tried what you suggested without success. I turned on Arno Pro, opened Logos 4 Mac, and typed set greek font to Arno Pro in the command line. When I went to the preferences pane, Arno Pro was not an option for Default, Greek, or Hebrew fonts. The only difference I note is that I'm using Suitcase Fusion 2 as a font manager, not Font Book. Any thots?

Sweet! Yet another one of those command line tricks that I didn't know about. Evidently you can do a whole lot more on the command line than you can do in preferences.
EDIT: Nope, not quite. For whatever reason, none of the diacritical characters work in the GFS fonts. Any character with an accent or breath mark shows up in Arial Unicode, while the rest are in the chosen font. I think this is a bug, because the GFS fonts work just fine with text copied from Logos into another program (Mellel in my case, but it works in Word also).

Here is the result of assigning GFS Porson in Logos 4 Alpha 23:
And here is that verse, copied and pasted, directly into Mellel, without even changing the font:
As you can see, it picked up the GFS Porson in the rich text copy and paste, and applied it perfectly, even though the verse in Logos displays in a mixed font

We noticed this as well last week when doing some other font testing. Most of our devs are out on holiday today, but I'll check and see what the issue might be when everyone gets back in the office tomorrow.
