Major Bible Themes was copyrighted in 1926, and the copyright was renewed in 1954, which means this book is not in the public domain.

I have no reason to question that it is still under copyright. But I do want to use the book as a cautionary tale. Justin had good reason to think it was public domain.

When we have the ability to make PBB's, this is a good example of why a web copy of the book is not always a good source of accurate copyright information.

According to those sites, everything from Chafer, except his Systematic Theology and any revised editions of his work, is in the public domain

The Library of Congress (I think that's the correct agency) maintains a site/service for verifying copyright status. I would expect this to be the resource Logos uses to verify copyright status. It's standard practice of a good faith effort to determine the copyright status.
