A fun and informative post from James White: and practice using your lexicons..

I came across a post by Dr. James White who's getting ready for some debates, and he's going over a passage (1 Corinthians 3:15) and speaking about the meaning of ζημιόω "to suffer loss" and showing the use of BDAG, Louw-Nida and TDNT (I think.) while he's doing it.

It's audio file along with a graphic but I opened Logos and my resources, and followed along.

For those who are curious about BDAG, this is interesting or if you have these resources, it's good practice to listen and go over them while he talks....

Thanks Robert. Another good reminder that we all bring bias to what we do, and lexicons certainly contain much interpretation. We always need to be aware of who we are reading. Logos and other software gives us the advantage of comparing various resources quickly. I can now study without my desk overflowing onto the floor as I try to use a variety of sources.

I browsed the web site a bit and want to reiterate my request - we need argument mapping and logic checking in Logos [:(] Seriously, one of the things needed most for good apologetics is to ferret out the assumptions under the surface of a given Bible interpretation - that is where the real differences usually lie.
